Nostr, how do you feel about having a permanent record of all zaps you have ever received in plaintext and un-deletable? Not good right? What are we doing here.. We can maybe do better and then more zaps would flow.

It's fine, We can see who is zapping who and track all the zaps. Amethyst already has a anonymous zap so people who don't want their zapa to be public can use that.
anonymous amethyst zap is still creating a public record about the receiver (amount and node). though I do see an option now in amethyst called "non-zap" which does no nostr.

i've always felt that zaps were fake and gay. publishing the invoice is stupid, it doesn't prove anything to anyone, they are designed to be useless at revealing where the payment actually goes, for that matter, the sender side of the path would also be needed but whatever. stupid idea IMO.
what's most hilarious about it is how the moneros who think their onchain is more private, is the whole point about zaps is they can't be proven publicly lol. so why have them? to be a proof of anything it would need a trusted verifier which doesn't happen either.
Maybe I'm petty, but I'd like to know who is tight with zaps. I don't bother to check, but if it were say an easy lookup in my client, I'd no doubt check it often. But yeah, privacy I guess
some thoughts on this:
the numbers are fake tho.. so it's a wash, anyone could vibe code a zap adjuster.
what really matters, is the receiver knows who sent it (community), no need to disclose your node information for that..
zap counts (not amounts) could be the new 'public zap'..

I don't game it knowingly. There are a handful of people I zap and who zap back frequently, which likely inflates any meaningful metric...hmm. I'm thinking about it now...
I guess I'd be interested in knowing net zaps, and distinct npubs zapped, and I don't really care if the numbers are gamed. Most don't game it, I don't imagine, and I think I'd pick up on it if they did. I just don't like the feeling of zapping people who themselves don't really zap. It's petty, but I guess I am petty 🤷♂️
How can we improve this dilemma?
