The importance of proof of work in life.

The other day at a family meal a recent nutrition graduate (fiat education) was discussing my diet.

He was showing me his studies and I was showing him mine, evidently discrediting mine because I am not a nutritionist.

My closing argument was, I am more than twice as old as you, I have twice as much muscle mass as you, I can do 100 pull-ups, I can run for two hours straight, I can beat you at sprint at any distance, I have no cholesterol, no triglycerides, no sugar, my blood work is perfect.

If at my age you get to be like me, then I will believe your studies.

Studying is all very well, but what they teach at the university does not have to be the truth.

As a curiosity, his postulates were:

- Fasting is bad.

- Protein is bad.

- Carbohydrates are good.

- Fats and meat increase cholesterol.

My diet is based on:

- Fasting.

- Protein (fish, meat)

- Practically no carbohydrates

When I have increased the consumption of carbohydrates (I also do endurance sports) I have ended up with triglycerides sky high and with slightly high cholesterol.

My liver is perfect.

FIAT culture is garbage, boy things have to be proven, POW.

Agreed 100% with post

Authority worship is a cult.

Each time I try low or no carbs, I get leg cramps within a few days and I'm generally low energy.

Do you get that too? And how do you deal with it?

Thanks.

When I started with the low carb diets I had a headache during the first few days, it is important to hydrate yourself so you don't have cramps, since carbohydrates retain water and that's why they cramp.

However this only happens at the beginning, until you "detox". My best athletic performances have been with a low carb extra-rich diet and prolonged fasting.

Never reducing the amount of calories.

agreed I am also mostly carnivore and had to transition to being in ketosis, its only temporary this leg cramps and low energy. I read some people use salted water to help with that but not sure how effective it is. worth a try I think. your body metabolism is changing hence the impact but the light on the other side is worth it

Insulin induces kidneys to retain some electrolytes. A rapid reduction in base insulin level leads to electrolyte depletion, which manifests itself as "keto-flu". Drink mineral water or consider a short temporary course of supplementation.

I’m married to a fiat nutritionist. I eat and workout like you(though not as performant) for last 8 years. Zero change in her opinion. I love her(40 years) so I do not die on this hill with her. Change comes from within or above ✝️.

Something similar happens to my wife, she says that my way of eating(I don't like to call it diet) an it doesn't work for her.

She sneakily eats sweets, chocolate with sugar and all kinds of junk food πŸ˜‚.

On the other hand I am aware that anything bad that happens to me will be blamed on my eating πŸ˜‚, it's a losing battle.

- Fasting is crazy beneficial. It is an absolute midwit take to deny this. Bonkers.

- Out of the 3 macronutrient groups, carbs are completely unessential. I want someone to explain to me why we need carbs mechanicistically. All I get is Salad boy's dumb opinions (or other nutritionists).

- Saturated fat does not cause heart disease, nor do polyunsaturates prevent it. This is mainstream science now with multiple systematic reviews of rcts to back it up.

- We are all protein defficient probably, protein is absolutely essential.

- Strength training is underappreciated. Get some muscle ffs.

Doctors don't know anything about nutrition (source: me) and nutrition science has allowed a global obesity and t2dm pandemics to occur.

Fuck fiat food and fuck fiat medicine, quite frankly.

Fuck it's such a relief to see that there are people who think like me πŸ˜‚.

As a curiosity my body mass index is a bit higher than what it would have to be for my height (classic literature), years ago with a fat percentage of 12% an obese doctor and smoker told me I had to lose weight.

BMI definitions of obesity were set arbitrarily. Look at photos of innuit hunters taken in early 20th century. These guys were fit, but they clearly had body fat. There is even some data that suggest oveweight people (bmi 26-30) live longer than the 'normal' group.

It takes a special kind of doctor who will look at a healthy person in front of them and criticize their cholesterol. It's like doctors lost the power of observing plain facts.

I have family in the medical field who have seen me lose over 100 pounds and still caution me about how risky my diet is

Comparte el plan anda :) que me apunto!

Yup Agreed carbs can be shocking for health, especially all the processed crap.

Fats seam mostly healthy, and sugar(carbs) is the devil.

I actually don't personally eat meat or other animal products, over a decade.

Month ago started moving to more keto diet (certainly made challenging by my choice not to eat animal products). Has certainly improved was specialists told me was "lazy intestines", which was just something I had to live with.

Seems to me most people are either in the meat is bad, or meat is good camp. While reality is more, processed carbs/sugars are bad. In regards to fats and protein, personal choice where you get them from.

There is obvuosly healthy and unhealthy vegans and Omni's.. The unhealthy in both care typically the junk food and processed food eaters.

Avoiding the processed crap is key. Sadly for me that is quite tricky, but I'm getting there.

If you are human you need animal protein in your diet. If you think you don’t you are fooling yourself.

Figure it out now or later when your health suffers.

There really is no debate anymore.

After over a decade, I disagree..

The ultimate fuck around and find out. Good luck

Me too:

- Fasting

- Meat

- Fat

- Water

I am strong and happy!

I've discovered that people who explore higher education tend to narrow their worldview significantly to what they've been brainwashed to believe. The vast majority of scientific discovery and invention have come from self educated individuals rather than people who memorize the words of those that came before them. At a certain point, usually on path to masters or doctorate, these individuals have developed such an identity toward this line of thinking that to claim it is wrong or that there are other options would attack their very being.
