Someone messaged ME just today. But any time I try to message anyone else, it shows that they aren’t on the app and then just gives me the default “you can download white noise at [link]”

Wut? Having a signer to separate signatures from messages is not a midbrain take. Spinning up a new Nsec you are willing to lose would be fine. Do you understand how frost works? It doesn't change your Nsec. If it's already exposed that key is dead. Frost would simply make another key a verifiable to a hidden Nsec using a schnorr scheme. It's not some magic "Unexpose my key" button. But thanks for taking the time to try to meme me.

i really dont think migrating nsecs at this point in nostr adoption is that big of a deal but if you want to be precious with yours that is fine too
Depricating a catalog of your content has drawbacks, but I see your perspective. I would just opine that the perspective that holding secret information SECRET especially a mostly bitcoin crowd has its merits too and are not a mid-brain thought process as you alluded.

we need better tooling in general, having a single key that is hot by default on phones that are easily compromised is not ideal, amber is probably not the long term answer for that either
I always thought an HSM verision of Amber would be a great not too intrusive or complex solution.

-Phone/client pairing secret =sign
-Only sign whitelisted Npub messages.
-Kinds[1-?] Auto sign, else return confirm message with new kind param.
hardware solutions could make a lot of sense for power users and organizations
for most users, i like the idea of frost with optional 2fa flow + social recovery, could implement it pretty cleanly ux wise
There's an open NIP PR about BLE signers and a prototype implemention PR for lnbits nostr-signing-device.
This would pave the way for a proximity signing device that you can carry around and connect to your client's device.
No one cares about your nsec enough to try stealing it. It's not your cold storage seed phrase.
That is true for now. Just like hacking someone X account to peddle scams. If there is monetary gain to do so someone will try. I have less worry about that happening to me but bigger accounts like Odell are more of a target.
