It’s so strange how the media has this Nostr blindness when talking about decentralized social. Like we don’t exist. They must do no research at all.

Ignore you stage.
VC money can't control it
And saying blue sky is decentralized
And so many nod and agree. It’s like no one has a brain 🧠
It is strange, I believe it's a mix of not wanting to talk about it on purpose as media has no incentive to promote it and is not easy to explain if you don't deep dive.
with not even 50k weekly active users that use Nostr?
What?
ok, active means writing notes according to https://stats.nostr.band/
Valid point.
They don't
Honestly, I've seen them have a similar blindness with HUGE companies that just happen to be privately held. Seems like if something wasn't printed in a 10-Q or said on a public shareholders earnings call, they can't be bothered to know anything about it. Half surprised they even mention Twitter anymore.
Big Pharm doesn't spend dollars on it, so their talking heads don't mention it. How would they even rally folks? "It can't be shut down by "AUTHORities?" Sounds good to me; I am the author here!!
First they ignore you
To be fair Nostr is essentially Invite only.
It was like a year or two after hearing about damus that I even found out Nostr was a thing.
If Nostr gets mentioned it'll be because of clients like Primal, Amethyst, or Damus, we're still years away from the protocol itself getting recognition.
Sometimes I wonder if part of that is a lack of press releases? I honestly have no idea if anyone does that for their nostr stuff. I just know low level journalists sift through lists of press releases to find things to write about.
They're not aware of anything outside of the major VC bubble, which is funny because they generally frame themselves as anti-VC.
