I’m just in awe of how everyone thinks it’s wonderful is all.
I fully understand the protocol and it’s implications. I just underestimated people’s willingness to become the product… again.

But but but samecat, we are getting paid directly (1/10 of a penny) for our attention. It’s buttur!
Feedback and introspection is essential to any purposeful enterprise.
I’m definitely on the side of caution and hesitation on this one.
Advertising is cancer in its current model, but people simultaneously refuse to pay for the things they use.
I respect the attempt to increase the financial viability of Nostr, but I can genuinely say that I hate my feed with these on. Will has already stated an option to turn it off is coming, so I’m not gonna panic or spread drama or FUD, but yes…. We should 💯 consider the implications and cultural things associated with encouraging something like this.
I don’t see this benefiting the small shops once it catches on. It’s going to benefit the companies with enough funds to spray and pray. We’re just early and we may get away with it for now, but I don’t buy the party line that this is revolutionary or solving any real problem.
Thank you for saying, so eloquently, what I have been thinking since this started.
I agree, paying for the things we use is the mind-shift that is necessary.
I'm starting to think it's a bit westworld
Advertising will probably get really bad if nostr grows into a larger audience. Most likely clients will find ways to filter out ads for you eventually. Otherwise nostr will become unusable.
This. I don’t think we disagree (thought we might at first).
I just want to take a deep breath and evaluate what we’re supporting as a culture. Tools are coming - I agree with that. #damus does a great job listening to users. Things will course correct.
I’m just not a joiner. The same group that says “likes are fiat” and “zaps are signal” are supporting the idea of ads being injected into a conversation for a few pennies.
We might ought to evaluate the cognitive dissonance there is all I’m saying. ❤️❤️❤️
