There was a backdoor discovered by Chinese scientists in 2019, which was from the CIA and possibly Mossad.

Thankfully, that backdoor is found in TM SGNL.

You have more info?

This issue shows that it was a CIA backdoor:

Thanks. But you can use Molly and encrypt your local data with a password šŸ”‘

And who knows how to do that, anyone?

Fully FOSS and you can use without Google too! Goto settings and select Database encryption with Passphrase!

Same can be said of Signal. FOSS, usable without google. But, I guess if you want a little extra encryption (Signal is already encrypted), I guess Molly would be just fine.

Is it interoperable with signal? Can't get family to swap again, signal was hard enoigh.

Also future of messaging through nostr???

Take this article with a grain of salt. Needing fingerprint only is blatant falacy. Reads like a hit piece, too. 6 years ago and no one has reviewd the code yet? Move 9n from this trash.

I'm sure it was already fixed by now.

I’m sure there are many more today

I'm sure there are, but that might not be a Signal issue. It has to do with AWS I think.

The link you shared says it was the removal of passphrase for local data encryption is the security weakness. With Molly this is restored.

There is the claim that removing passphrase on local encryption and instead relying on the device security, it is a security weakness and backdoor
