I’m seeing a lot of talk about “only zaps” and trying to move in that direction. I’m still a #nostr noob, so can you all help me understand what exactly nostr is for? I watched a tiktok video about nostr and the person spoke about nostr as a decentralized social media (which is why I came here.) They never mentioned bitcoin or it being a space for that, but I learned about bitcoin/zaps coming over here.

Also, I thought nostr was trying to grow into a decentralized social media space, not just about bitcoin and for bitcoiners. Is that the case? If so, I don’t understand these arguments about “only zaps.” If you’re trying to attract the world, then you need to have a space where all people feel welcomed, not just bitcoiners aka people who want to like/repost/comment not always zap notes.
