The only zaps argument is a funny one. In its essence it helps onboard people who don’t understand bitcoin to start collecting sats. I’m not a gamer… but you can think of it like a video game that gives you game specific tokens for doing something cool. The major difference is you’re getting tipped in a hard asset that shows how valuable your content is.

Me… I like having the ability to like (🌻) repost and comment but I LOOOOOVE being able to zap. Which is why Nostr is awesome. I can thank people in real time with micropayments that can help them in a crunch or even start saving in sats.

Nostr actually keeps you from being poor because of sats gaining value exponentially. The Price of Tomorrow is a great book that explains the essence of #nostr perfectly… it was written before Nostr was a thing so it takes some inferring but it makes a strong point.

Some people want only zaps because it’s real value being traded for real value. Some clients allow it and others don’t so you gotta pick the client that’s for you.

Nostr and Bitcoin have a beautiful symbiotic relationship. The two don't need one another to survive, but they go together and compliment one another. You can't have the freedom to transact (Bitcoin) without the freedom to communicate (Nostr). Both are freedom tools. Both are decentralized and censorship resistant.

You don't have to use Bitcoin and Zaps, but Nostr helps you understand the need for decentralized money. Once you understand decentralized communication, having a similar money makes sense too.

In tik tok there is an algorithm to recommend what you like and feeds you that. Because none of this is hosted on one server it makes it difficult to find what you like. But with zaps we provide value to show each other what we like qnd can filter by it.
