I was using Brave Search but would regularly find its results weren’t very good, even with the Google fallback mixing enabled. But since switching to nostr:npub1xsgymm0ne3vndqpvsvy285qfpu59049t5n5twg9vetmt92cyn95snyzazx a few months after they launched in 2022, I now get the results I’m looking for every time. And I love that I can customize the results based on the types of sources it’ll query against. I even went so far as to benchmark Google itself and surprisingly Kagi outperformed even Google in terms of the quality and relevance of the results for each search. Even if you don’t partake in the promo running on NostrMedia.com, I highly suggest giving #Kagi a try!

How do they customize the results?

Just saw it. The price still put me off.

Worth every penny imo

It's too bad you can't establish an account and login with Nostr. I'm going to do the trial and see how it goes.

Save your sats. Search engines are (almost) useless in 2025. Most results lead to garbage websites filled with ads trackers and AI generated texts.

I can tell you haven’t used Kagi lol. Check it out. You can filter based on the exact negatives you’ve mentioned.

+1

kagi is awesome

It requires users to be logged into an account to search. The last thing I would want is to have my search engine and LLM prompts tied to an online account, especially on a service like Kagi that has Google, OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Apple built-in.

Kagi claims they don't log anything, but their headquarters are in the USA, yeah...

Their browser is also only available on iOS/MacOS devices, and as far as I know, it's not even open-source.

Even if you ignore all the red flags, paying for a search engine doesn't make sense in today's world where every result is some random trash site with AI-generated junk with a billion ads. If Google can't fix that, how would Kagi?

I just use my local offline LLM to quickly get the answers i need, it's enough for most things.

Already using it!

I switched to Kagi a few months ago and really like it.
