I’m old enough to remember when we turned off our computers when we were “done” using them.

The good old days 🤣🤣

That’s okay 🤣

Good old days, friend! I am still remembering my first build of 486DX4 with 1GHz and 4Mb RAM. Doom ran smoothly! 🐶🐾😂🤣🫂

What I loved about those days is people actually optimizing their software to use least RAM possible. Now it’s like oh you got 32GB? Ok I’ll use 16GB

Yes, now the complexity reduction is prioritized, not the resource usage optimization. Understandable, but still sucks. Even IOT things are moving toward that, oh boy! 🐶🐾😂

Look at the size of Damus vs Twitter!

🐶🐾🤙🏻🤣

DEVICEHIGH = ramdrive.sys / E 2048

😉

Instafollow! 🐶🐾🫡 magic words!

I’m old enough to remember when RAM was calculated in kilobytes.

And the HDD was a cassette deck

Ha, had one as well, around 1995 or so. Played Doom II over modem with a buddy and used PGP when mailing friends.

And the music when it turned on..

XP? Brah, I feel old now

😂😂 I was there for 98 too, but somehow the XP sound is more nostalgic

Music?

I remember installing a game from 6 floppy disks 😂 and before those we had those giant disks.

I remember listening to the tape to find where the data track started.

I was born in it, modulated by it.

In late 70s we had a magazine that published the code for games. We had to type it in ourselves and debug it.

So awesome 🤩

I feel this, 10yrs later though.

I still have one of these laying around in the house

Quest for Glory III, 4 3.5 floppies.

Bazaar, Mancala, Blue Orchid

Import character from previous game.

Fuck giant ants.

Winnie the Pooh on 5.25 floppy.

Chasing papers. Fuck the wind.

Don't put quarters into floppy drive,

It's not an arcade game.

Skate or Die II on NES

Thrashing the half pipe for them GF hearts.

Chasing papers again.

Fuck old lady with rolling pin.

It's like a poem about retro gaming. What is this I don't even 💜⚡

arj -e 🤣

Timex Sinclair, 1000 and a cassette deck…. what tape counter number was that?

I lent my murder on the mississippi to a classmate and never got it back :'(

And having to end phone calls before using the internet

“Hey ma! You gonna make a call soon? No? No? Ok”

It was making me go crazy when installing through it.

Kids today are like WTF how could you not die instantly!?

C:\del *.*

I’m old enough to remember flipping the diskette over to continue loading the program.

Those were the good old days. Inserting 5 floppy disks to install a software. 😂

But it’s crazy. Even just 20 years ago we all had 4gb on our desktop hard drive. And it would take an hour to download a browser version update on dialup. Things changed so quickly!

Nostr wasn’t a thing either! 😂

FORMAT A: /T:42 /N:10

few..

so it's all "old" people here on nostr?

😱

Senior Web-Surfers 🏄🏼

🤣 I love it

I'm old enough to remember DOS. Those were the days.

And our EnergySaver™️ monitors.

CRT

Cathode Ray Tube.

Also my new band.

An Iowa farmer invented that and sold the patent for 200 USD

Brutal.

I can’t even imagine….

Config.Sys and Autoexec.bat.

Yep. I remember when the internet was made of wood.
