Follow some hashtags. But it is a LOT of stuff, actually making it difficult to separate noise from signal.
Yeah, on my feed of people I follow I have 10+ posts within the past 1 minute
DAUs are ⬆️ on #nostr. It’s probably a lot of users in the US and we’re just waking up to freedom here on July 4th, so about an hour or so we should see some uptick in conversation.

My nostr bootstrap method was: see who Lyn Alden, Jeff Booth etc etc are following and follow them all. Then follow more peple that seem smart and posting good content.
Now following almost 1000 nostritches from various parts of the world and my feed is never dull. I suppose nostr without the algo just works a bit differently.
I'd still like to have multiple feeds so I could focus it at certain groups tho.
Also in the search pad, try to type a name, you'll get suggestions for people on nostr and maybe you find someone you know.

I am doing pretty much the same, except I avid most profiles with laser eyes, mentions of bitcoin in any way shape or form in their name, handle or picture. If you can't avoid it there, it will inevitably end on your timeline, which already needs less bitcoin and nostr related content and more of anything else My two sats.
I'd like to have more feeds or an ability to switch between multiple feed filtering presets. That way I could look what the laser eye nostr talks abou and then switch to something completely different, like let's say musicians talking about their new toys and creations and then to switch to some other group/theme.

To some (little) extent yes, but it's a different thing. No always aplicable, not everyone uses (the same) hashtags and also it is not sorting by my rules. I have no say in what is included under a hashtag.
Making my own filtersets (as complex as I like) and applying them with one or two clicks is a very different thing than searching for a hashtag.
Adding this delay awhile back tremendously improved my experience. Check my relay list to see how to configure it for yourself. It takes around 3-5 mins to set up.

I turn off global on the biggest spam relays (damus, nos.lol) I turn global on my cheap paid relays. It's a good mix of content 👌

Start9 private relay is good too on rasp-pi or Intel NUC - piss easy to set up, pretty cheap and lean + gives flexibility. Push content out via your own relay that you wish to share, whilst also connected to free public relays in your network settings for incoming notes from all the accounts you follow or global incoming too.
Be the change you want to see. Nostr isn't a "help me procrastinate" platform. It's a social media platform. Have something interesting to say? Say it and we'll contribute to the conversation.
I don't post much here, but I lurk and there are waves of information. Twitter has a lot more content but it's less intelligent and sometimes very hateful content.
Correction: Not even a platform, sorry, a protocol. And not even a social media protocol, but the way we use it, damus/amethyst is like a social media platform.

I am not a prolific "poster", I am not hugely tech-minded, but I check in on nostr fairly regularly .. for what it's worth, here's what i think ..
Firstly, they're notes, not posts.
Secondly, your global feed (or search, if you will) contains a lot of spam, relay management fixes this.
Thirdly, there is no algorithm .. if you're not seeing many notes in 7 hours, then the people you're following are not noting 🤷🏻
And finally, curate your lists.

You might benefit from more curation, but in general the volume on nostr is lower than Twitter. We online have around 10,000 daily active users.
I think we just need to keep engaging and following others with Nostr and it will continue to grow. It’s a breath of fresh air to not see endless scam coins I’ll say that much

Yea I agree with what some others have already said. Add more people to follow, but be selective.
Some people write a few notes a week and others 50/a day.
If someone is in that latter camp I’ll either unfollow or mute since I miss the others posting good stuff occasionally (someone will probably repost the best stuff those heavy users post anyways).
Go through the follow list of people you respect and you’ll probably find more people worth checking out.

As others noted. Follow more is the best solution, but I would also consider if you're getting content from non-followed accounts on twitter. Like the "for you" feed. Even if you use the "followed" twitter feed, consider how much of your feed is retweets of accounts you don't directly follow. That's just a network effect that nostr can't compete with for awhile. In the meantime, be the network effect you want to see in the world.
Without an algorithm, your feed is reliant on your followers being active. And with only 176 follows, it’s not surprising that your feed is dead, and is “bitcoiners talking to bitcoiners about bitcoin” as you said in a previous note.
