Today I met a local guy in Bali who teaches people to surf. He does that 6 hours every day. Rest of the day just chill. He lives very pover and just makes enough money to eat 3 meals a day. For the rest he just enjoys teaching people how to surf and he enjoys life.

Meanwhile me and the entire society I live in in Europe spends all their hours in office without seeing much sunlight. Hoping to get that raise of promotion. Trying to get that bit of more money to buy some stupid designer stuff to impress other people.

I genuinely wonder who’s richer and happier in life

Met a server who did that but replace surfing with skiing. Thought the same thing

I just want to get financially independent and get off the grid

That’s it

Me too

You will achieve this. Reduce overhead. Improve income.

Sounds like the story of the fisherman and the businessman

If he actually has enough and is not struggling so much in poverty, but still well off enough, then your answer is that he is.

Rich enough to not live on the internet

There's not enough time to not surf.

Mate I did my first lesson today! How awesome is surfing?!?!?!

It’s the best. About to get my first waves in Italy!

When I’m coming to Costa Rica you better be ready to teach/show me your skills

I aspire to live in a world where people can choose what they do based on their passion and be able to retire on that.

Sound money makes that possible. Without it I would worry for that guys long term security, but somehow I think he's going to be just fine 🙂

Only a small number of people in the world will ever get to do what their passion is. Otherwise there will be no garbage men, ditch diggers, road workers, or many laborer jobs in general.

This is so true

It's true that not everyone can reach that point, but without a doubt under fiat the number shrinks and under bitcoin the number grows.

That is a great role model to see!

Gives you the glimpse that maybe, chasing money is not the right path for you.

It’s not about the money, it’s about the freedom

Definitely. About options. But this is not what society teaches generally.

Sorry, what I mean here is, it might be a hard job for most people to make this decision, to

- teach couple of hours surfing every day

- earn only enough to eat and maybe some pocket money

- have the rest free for anything else
