Can someone please help me work out how I verify my identity with nostr?
Australia’s social media identification laws come into effect in less than one hour and I am worried about getting locked out of my nostr account if I don’t verify my age in time.
Just write your name, age and adress in caps lock, that'll do the trick.
But how would they verify its me? Perhaps best to just post a note with a scan of my passport to be safe.
Sure! It's always good to play it safe and add extra steps. After all, you wouldn't want to cause delay in paperwork or even upset the authorities, would you?

Hold your phone in front of you like a mirror and say very loudly: VERIFY!

In my experience it can be easier if you borrow a neighbor's toddler's shoes to balance on top of some of your own. You may also want to get a product I can only assume was designed specifically for this matter that makes shoes stick together, called Shoe Goo.

Nostr does it a little bit differently from other platforms, you have to use a fake ID or it won't be accepted

If I post that I am going straight to jail. Probably the fastest way to get your house raided is to do anything in public with a swastika. And after all this work to get verified I really don’t want to have to go to prison.
Doesnt this just mean that they'll eventually close the loophole on mobile by making app store approval contingent on putting age verification in social software? Or start forcing websites that host nostr frontends to comply?
Good question. It will be interesting to see if they just focus on the big tech companies or if they will go after the little guys as well.
The legislation is extremely broad. The way it is written any website that allows communication between two or more users or any website that hosts user generated content is classed as a social media company that must verify age.
I think you could make a very good case that Nostr isn’t social media
So if Nostr is where you hang out online
Then you’ve got nothing to worry about
