I have a thought, I bet others have as well. It would solve the Damus issue (for those unlike me that just turned off auto updates 😹 ) but it would be a great feature anyway.

Gonna focus on Alby because many of us use it to manage nostr keys. IDK if any other wallet as is now would be useful for this.

Most of us use Alby for browser based Nostr stuff so almost everyone has it, even if they more often use mobile. If Alby has my keys, I would think there could be some link between my alby and my actions on Nostr other then intentional zaps and receives.

What I am talking about is a optional "only zaps". If I were alby I would create a way in your alby profile that says, "monitor my profile for likes, if I like a thing, send X sats to whoever posted it".

I know that you an think of a thing a lot easier than develop a thing but if Alby did this, they'd increase the advantage they have over other wallets which due to key management is already impressive.

Users could then select a signature zap number in alby and all likes become only zaps. This is probably retarded and impossible to do, or is easy and some how already exits, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway.

You can do it only for certain type of like, e.g. âš¡

What do you think about #Nostore https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nostore/id1666553677

Alby doesent store your nostr key, its only on your browser, but its doable with a separate web based nostr browser. Some nostr clients have "autozap" that zaps everything you look at, but if it ran in the background and autozapped everything you liked, now we have a way around granny smith's prison guards

That makes no sense given I can log into alby on a separate computer, install the extension and then manage my keys on a new computer without ever entering the private key.

How do these two things justify against one another?

Ok if youre using the alby hosted wallet than what you are saying is correct. I use one of the other self hosted wallets for keys

I am glad that you understand what I am doing, I guess I don't understand what you are doing.

You can connect to your start9 hosted lightning with Alby rather than using Alby's hosted lightning node. If you go to 'manage wallets' on alby, add a wallet, and select the right box with a list of a dozen different wallets, you will find lndhub, lnd, eclaire, lnbits, etc. Im not sure how you do it with start9, but one way or another you should be able to send and recieve sats with an external lightning wallet app like zeus or bluewallet. Alby can behave just like zeus and bluewallet, and allow you to zap with your selfhosted lightning node directly from your browser.

Once alby is set up with your selfhostes wallet, you can assign nostr keys to that wallet. This way you can switch nostr identities simply by changing which wallet is selected in your alby extension.

The only caveat is that the selfhosted wallet configurations in alby are not stored by alby, its only stored in your browser. You may notice that once you configure alby on one browser the configurarion of your selfhosted wallets carries over to other computers. This is not from Alby storing your information, it's from chrome's profile sync feature keeping your browser extension configurations stored in your google profile.

You would need to open the Alby extension for the zaps to be sent, so there could be delay if you never open it. I wonder if having a separate Nostr profile (or NIP-26?) just for zapping that you can give to some service along with NWC so your zaps will be instant. I think nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240 suggested the idea first!

This is likely a dumb question for some reason, but I don’t know so I’m asking anyway. Is there a browser based Nostr interface that can be accessed through safari?

Sounds like this:
