So many sites just break or do a million captchas if you use a popular VPN

In addition to not knowing if the VPN is selling your data

That's why the best solution is to host your own VPN with wire guard

Host my own VPN, where?

Lnvps, bitlaunch

So, on other people hardware? 🚩

great VPS provider πŸ‘

VPNs are on our roadmap. But yeah, you can order a VPS and use that for your personal VPN. in the best case you use a Mynymbox VPS for that as those runs on our nodes

What provider though? Data center IP ranges also result in lots of captchas or simply blocked sites (not sure if worse than popular VPN providers though as I have never used them).

Small time no KYC boys like lnvps and bitlaunch

Unless it’s banned on the protocol level…

nah

anonset is bad

"best solution" depends on threat model

in this case

depends if you simply dont want to site you are visiting to know your IP

or if you want to avoid targeted surveillance

Yeah, this is a great solution for some threat models and a totally shit solution for other threat models.

Blanket advice... Just ask the native Americans how much you should trust someone handing out free blankets.

not sure the metaphor holds up but I feel ya

we already know homeboy doesn't have strong privacy needs

Tortured metaphor for sure. I just like to bring up the native Americans, Japanese Americans, and Hispanic Americans often as possible to be educational to the "concentration camps couldn't happen here" Americans.

VPNs do nothing to address the browser fingerprint issue.

These days they are mostly good only for preventing your ISP from spying on your traffic and selling that data to myriad third parties.
