Omg I have no clue. They're both incredibly evil. The kind of evil where if they come out and see that you have your own router installed, they'll throw it to the side and reinstall their router without your permission.

Trick question

The one who didn't remove Don't Be Evil from their original mission statement

Idk, AT&T is extremely evil. Micromanaging evil. It's very much a monopolist too. Has a lot of government agents in the revolving doors.

Yeah AT&T was next level evil and in bed with the govt before Google even existed. Thats what gets me, they are both just so bad that I have a hard time deciding šŸ˜‚

:goodnews: Good news! It doesn't matter then lol! I feel for ya. Sucks having no good options.

He didn't give me another choice, only less evil

Personality, I avoid both companies with equal contempt

Yeah that's why I'm saying we have no way of knowing who's less evil. It's a coin toss.

Hey at least it's not Mexican ISPs.

Google does (did?) have as part of their core values ā€œdo no evilā€ so that might be best…

Which ever is offering most value (price for speed) in Fiber is who I’d go with.

If is ā€œDSLā€ or ā€œcableā€ then I’d give a serious look at Starlink…

If SL isn’t an option then probably go with AT&T…UNLESS Google’s offer is their own lines…if I recall though Google is rides on other’s network and in those cases you always want to get service via the parent network.

From back in the day I recall it labeled a T-LEC where phone companies are required to sub contract out a part of their network which is reserved by law for smaller companies to help fight a monopoly.

I dealt with this with CenturyLink when we had T-1 lines from them.

Google Fiber is a dedicated org/team, and10x easier to sign up for and manage. Don’t even waste your time with AT&T.

I’m considering Starlink

Yes

All about the details. Trust + security assumptions matter

Put aside Google's predatory ad surveillance. They have been on the leading edge of defensive cyber security and privacy tech for some time. See Android, BeyondCorp zero trust, and OpenTitan to name a few.
