My mother has never watched The Matrix.

I provided various contexts about themes since it is a 25-year old movie, but then suggested that she actually do so. Like, really. Out of a thousand action movies, watch that one.

It’s a classic now, imo. On the list of movies that proper movie enthusiasts can’t not have watched.

Maybe pass on Part 4 though.

It still holds up in every regard!

I know what this movie means to you and this feels like a massive moment

Well I'm starting to feel old, 25 years since the first matrix. Gotta show her the animatrix too after.

It was the first movie I ever bought on DVD

First get her on nostr, then post about how cool the matrix is

But just the first movie. The only movie lol the rest of them are ok having never been watched.

I have said it is stand alone. Just one movie. :)

Some of the Animatrix shorts are really good.

My mom took me too see matrix revolutions and was amazed by neodammerung arrangement. It was such a high moment I doubt she could remember ,abstract dreamstate

Agree! First Matrix movie was and is groundbreaking cinema. In many ways actually. Fucking great movie, actually. Then and still now.

such a good movie. I enjoy the entire trilogy, though people tend to poop on the second and third. https://thematrix101.com/ is a solid website that fully explains everything, there's so much that I missed that gives me a greater appreciation that goes beyond viewing value for me

I like 2 and 3, but they are objectively worse. Also, Animatrix together with the Enter The Matrix game are good.

There was no 4th movie.

no denying 2 and 3 are worse

"Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this, the peak of your civilization. I say your civilization because as soon as we started thinking for you, it really became our civilization"

I grew to appreciate it on a whole new level once I was down the bitcoin rabbit hole. Great movie 👍🏼

I watched the anniversary theater release recently, and as I walked out, some teenagers were like "Dude the Matrix was dumb." I have never felt so old as after thinking "You have to understand the context of the time it was released. It introduced some raw cinematic and thematic concepts that, by the time it reached you, it had of course been polished up and made relevant to your perspectives. You UNGRATEFUL PHILISTINE."

I’m kind of thinking of the same pre-description when recommending it to someone 30+ years older than me. So, the reverse.

Like, she’ll think it’s dumb and millennial and be distracted by phone calls the whole time.

I love The Matrix becoz it contributed to a lot of Bitcoin memes🤓

I almost said this, but made sure not to say this. :)

Why? Avoid being too hard sell?

I never saw that either

Go watch it right now. In fact, anyone who hasn't seen it is banned from Nostr until they watch it.

Had to watch it 5 times before getting really solid understanding of it. It's absolutely stacked with information that film.

Cloud Atlas is pretty cool too. Underrated.

And it still holds up incredibly well.

There's so much packed into that movie. Extremely concise storytelling while being incredibly engaging. It's got everything... Intrigue, action, philosophy, dystopia, utopia, rebellion, dictatorship, romance... Great film!

It falls under the category of stories about a person’s ‘awakening’. I think any genre can go with that important theme, and do it in their own style. The style could be light, or dark/heavy/cynical+hopeful. I think the Matrix is in the 2nd group.

I cant believe Ive never seen it until last year. The sequels sucked imo, but the first one was a masterpiece

so did she watch it?

and get it?

I just learned the Matrix is 25 years old. Shit I am OAF.

Interesting given Lyn association with the illegal stalking and Keanu and what I’ve shared publicly ~
