This is totally random but several years ago an acquaintance in China remarked that she absolutely hated the following emoji -> 🙂
To be precise it was the version on Weibo iirc, but the sentiment was the same - it looks like a fake smile - insincere - almost condescending.
I didn't really get it at the time but the more I see people use 🙂 the more I tend to agree, especially when there are so many better alternatives, like 😁 , 😊 , 😃 and 😺 .
Anyone else bothered by 🙂 or is it just me? 🤓

Well, can't really do that today.

You’d probably hate how often I use 🙂🙃… not at all to be condescending. More to show allegiance for something when a big grin would be too much. Upside down is my take on irony or weird-funny.

Why are we so conscientious about alt texting our images, while inserting illegible images IN OUR DAMN TEXT ITSELF?
