I just looked into this and found that the daily tx count for monero is about what bitcoin was back in 2012.

Yes. Based on my understanding, if we go to a billion tx then it might be a problem. monero has dynamic block sizes which can grow with the tx count. But with full Proofs which should be released in the near future, it will solve for this 'lock up' for quick back to back tx.
