It would be more challenging to have a zapathon equivalent for monero due to its long settlement times. For rapid succesion of value transfers to different users, you'd want to establish individual UTXOs that would be spendable before an event.

As soon as you send monero the receiver can see it in the mempool and knows it is inbound. And they will have it and can spend it in about 15 minutes. If it is a tiny amount or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Yes. Based on my understanding, if we go to a billion tx then it might be a problem. monero has dynamic block sizes which can grow with the tx count. But with full Proofs which should be released in the near future, it will solve for this 'lock up' for quick back to back tx.
