Hey everyone,

Im coming back after a year away and wondering what has changed here.

So, I wanted to reintroduce myself, Im Johanna. I work as a holistic women’s health educator. I focus on all things women health: periods, birth and postpartum and menopause.I think my personal and work life are very intertwined and my personal interests are connected also to my work: herbalism, somatics, movement and sound. I guess they are all rooted in a sense of sovereignty, and agency and that’s why I am here. Looking for other ways to be in the world and also interested in Bitcoin as a tool to break the current monetary system.

Welcome

What are your thoughts on birth control?

I believe in informed consent, and when it comes to birth control, and women's health women should know that some forms of hormonal birth control like the pill, the patch and insert suppress ovulation. If you don't ovulate, you cannot produce progesterone, which has a calming and balancing effect on mood, slepp and brain. This lack of progesterone has been associated with increased heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and depression. There are other forms of birth control that don't suppress ovulation, like the copper iud, condoms, or fertility awareness method . So, when deciding which form of birth control, YOU should consider this together with your context, desires and health situation.

Thank you for your candid response. Do you consider the withdrawal method a form of birth control?

Listened to an amazing podcast on women's health and hormones today. Very fascinating subject indeed ❤️

Thanks for sharing, will give it a listen. Hormonal health is the foundation if how we work and has an impact on our cardiovascular, bone, break health, together with how we handle stress and how our immune system fights infections. That's why I think we should all be understanding better that it goes beyond fertility! We have gone do long with a narrow view of our hormones are only for reproduction, and now neuroscience, and psychoneuroimmnunology is proving otherwise.

100%!!

Another great one I just heard today, Dr. Chaffee has been on fire lately with hormones-focused guests
