Thanks. I've been using mull browser for a while but i'd prefer something chrome based. Gonna check this out for sure!

The switch also makes sense because Mull is sadly no longer maintained :(

Uninstall Mull and install Iron Fox. It's a continuation of Mull that actively maintained and developed. Here's the link to the Iron Fox GitLab repo where you can download it.

Didn't know that existed. Thank you!

Mull has gone EOL (end of life) and Is no longer being maintained. It's recommended to uninstall it from your devices. Iron Fox has picked up the ball and is the new recommended Firefox-based browser. Alternatively you can use Ice Raven, but Iron Fox is better, and is based on Mull.

Thanks. I missed that and since everything is auto updated i wouldn't even know if it became outdated. Maybe they should have pushed a final release with an annoying popup or something. Thanks a lot!

There was some obscure notice that the DivestOS people published, but almost nobody saw it because they didn't know to look at the bulletins on the DivestOS website. Then they just cut off the update URLs for both Mull and Mulch, as well as their F-Droid repo. Ylu really had tok go digging to find out what was going on. Fortunately, the Iron Fox people popped up quickly and committed to basically taking over from Mull. The last version of Mull was their starting point, and they've continued compiling from source. It looks like they've got a solid dev team, and are going to be reliable. But if not, ice Raven is another great FF choice, and they've been active for a long time. Their updates have even improved, and have been dropping more frequently. Give Iron Fox a try, and if you like it you can plug in the link to their repo I posted below into Obtainium for prompt, automatic updates.

Thanks again!

It's good, I use it beside Vanadium.

I love Cromite. I started using it as soon as Bromite went EOL. I also started using Iron Fox as my Firefox-based browser when Mull went EOL. I'm glad these options exist, and are actively maintained and developed. Screw Brave. Lol

extensions?

No. Kiwi was the only Android browser that supported extensions, but that went end-of-life and is no longer supported. There's talk that Cromite is going to add extension support, but there's no ETA on that.

kiwi is still available last i checked, but i feel dirty using it tho so i hobble myself w mobile FF. 😭

It hasn't been updated for about a year. I think the last update was in March or April of 2024. And if you visit the github repo and check the discussions and bug reports, you'll see that they're no longer maintaining it and recommend to delete. Also, FFbrowser has it marked EOL and isn't allowing new installations of it. It's dead.

Iron Fox and Ice Raven are both good ff browsers. Iron Fox is the continuation of Mull and is currently the only ff browser that's compiled from source like Mull was. I've been using it for about a month and it's been pretty good. I also use Ice Raven which is also a good option, and was my go-to for ff browsers before Iron Fox came along. Not sure which one I like best. Still need to do some more testing.

Only Firefox (and forks) have extensions

Well, Chrome does have extensions, including Nos2x and Alby, but it's only available on desktop. The android version doesn't have it. And Kiwi was the only mobile browser that offered chrome extensions, but the devs stopped maintaining it last March or April and FFbrowser has it marked EOL and isn't offering it for download anymore. Discussions on their github repo also indicate that it's a dead project. So now there are no chrome/chromium browsers that support extensions. Cromite is considering adding that support, but there's no ETA on when that will be done.

* on mobile

I was looking for a second browser with mull being unmaintained now. Thank you sir.

So reporting back after about a week of usage i have switched (back) to ironfox.

A few sites had trouble rendering. Probably due to iffy javascript or something. They just stayed blank.

Most annoying thing is that it does not allow me to open external apps from the app. I cannot open a nostr client from njump, or a wallet from a lightning url.

It was always fast and smooth and i'll keep trying it occasionally. I have not bothered yet with reporting issues on GitHub or checking if people already made issues for it. Maybe i'll do that later. I think the project is still in early development so i'll just leave it as is for now.

Definitely promising and will try again for sure.
