Being that I am not a dev and don't get all the technicality and understand there is certainly a conundrum around the whole censorship resistance and the decentralization aspect of it, but there has got to be some moral compass at play that is being used and in deep consideration in the developing process it seems. The best thing nostr users can do with the current system is take the flak, and report the content.

Yes Nostr can be censorship resistant but the censorship is welcomed on relays used by most plebs. Content like CSAM should absolutely be censored. We are not in Roman tomes anymore and Epstein island is not so popular anymore.

ZKP reporting for that content but problem is that mechanic could be abused by people who want to shut down opposing views 🤔.
Fine line, maybe have an algorithm determine keywords of the text but again algorithms can be broken too.
Unfortunately ultimately it comes down to human purview but no one wants to be the purviewer for that content again because they get no compensation, and have no legal protections, and also humans would abuse that mechanic to shut down opposing views.
The only way I can think to counteract the human purview problem is zap staking via smart contract, where in a moderator stakes in a certain amount to become a moderator.
If they moderate correctly by consensus then they get a Zap stipend on top of their stake but If they moderate incorrectly then their zap stake disappears.
Or a simpler way without too much brainstorming. Just being louder that Nostr will not tolerate CP and anyone trying will be hunt down one way or another.

I think when Mr. Mostr developed the bridge he didn't account for this, he probably intended for only good Mastodon content to relay but the problem is moderating that relay is tedious work.
I don't think he's malicious with the relay.
I think he worked hard on the bridge but unfortunately the other side of the bridge is a tribe of terrible people.
And frankly if you worked hard on something it would bug you to destroy it, best thing we can do is find a way as a community to fork that bridge, and have it moderated possibly.
Leave the original bridge in tact, so no accusations of censorship can be made.

To be completely honest with you, it doesn't appear to show where notes come from on those Clients.
Best thing you can do is check out a web based client that might have more control.
Usually on Damus, and Primal most relays are set by default but you can change them in the settings.
Kind of shooting blind tbh.
On Amethyst on Android this task is more easily performed since it shows the notes relays, & the users relays.

Nostur shows you which relay the note came from.
Nos shows you a timeline based off of relays.

Generally, you should be reserved with your Nsec but I think Nsec managers out there exist.
For android, & pc/web this is all fleshed out but I think the iOS ecosystem is still early.
