barbell squats. altough you mostly work your legs, your core will work a lot as well.

for abs just to cable crunches

good inspiration.

Is there a way to engage core even more during squats?

there is no trick to it. dont use a belt so you need your core for stability. use enough weight but dont hurt your spine. if you can barely do 3x 10 reps then the weight is optimal and you will get stronger. keep increasing the weight by only a bit everytime you feel like you got stronger. but I am sure you have heard of progressive overload. 😃

but most importantly pay attention to your form!

love squats anyway.

Did legs tuesday, but no barbell squats.

Might do it today with 10 rep range and focusin on engaging core and keeping the core engaged/under tension during whole movement

Russian twists, Elbow plank, Toes to bar. This is not an independent session, but a mandatory part of my daily routine. The main thing is to focus on form and technique.

Get a decline bench. Take the bar and do a rowing movement like its paddles with your upper body in the air. After going to both sides for 10, finish with a push up like movement pushing the bar over your head at the top. Do this for 10 more

if you have a video of this - pls share 👀

Don’t have a video of the exact exercise, since a friend showed me.

But its more or less a combination of these two.

And I meant a sit up like movement in the post before.

ok - I got it now.

Will figure something out for next time.

Like the „stable“ one more, but then moving your torso up-and-down. Have done that before lying flat on the ground with a 5kg or 10kg plate in my hands, basically extending out when moving up.

Compound lifts like squat and deadlift can do a lot to build your core which is not just your abs. When engaging them push out like you’re trying to expand the band on your shorts instead of contracting in your abs. It’s awkward and will take practice at low weight at first. This will also better protect your core and has the added benefit of decompressing your back during a deadlift particularly with a trap bar.

will try it with Squats, not too heavy weight.

„Push out“ you mean, as if I push my belly out? Getting air into my body - kind of?

Yeah kind of - tightening core by pushing out/expanding in all directions (not just belly) including your back rather than contracting. Again like you’re trying to expand the waist band on your shorts in all directions. You can start by getting air into your body but you’re eventually going to want to maintain that expanded core position while breathing in and out throughout the lift.

Good luck and thanks⚡️🙏
