MQA is officially gone from TIDAL. All on free and open standards now.

What's MQA?
i second this question
It’s a audio data compression version of scam.
What does this mean… in layman terms…
It was a sort-of trivial attribute, like "more bubbles in your shampoo"--a marketing ploy, essentially.
A non open-source format for encoding master quality audio - something that you’d use to share super high quality audio as opposed to an open source format FLAC. #[2] and team would know better, but that’s my understanding.
No DRM restrictions, open file format.
Can you guys please fix the issue of having me to re-add some of my music? I think when the team changes data on the backend for the song it gives me an error of ‘The Record Label does not permit streaming of this track’ but the song is still available in Tidal’s inventory. It grays out the song and I have to re-add.

My main beef with Tidal is with downloads...
They are not always accessible when the phone does not have a Wi-Fi or cell phone connection. Often, this is while camping or somewhere remote, which is why I have downloaded the albums, but then the downloaded items won't play.
There's absolutely no point in having downloaded items, to play when offline, if they don't work.
That is all.
Thank you. 👊
Hm. This should work
i have been having the same problem. thought is was only me but understand now i’m not the only one
i’ve also had problems playing my playlists while online. not sure why cuz when I used Spotify this wasn’t an issue at all.
i love Tidal but the fact that these things keep happening is a drawback
First the spatial meme now this, I'll just keep in stereo lol.

When can we pay for TIDAL with #Bitcoin 🙋♂️
When pay with sats for subscription? 🙃
Subscriptions with sats are hard as it implies a pull payment model. If the user has to push X sats to the service provider every Y days, is it even a subscription? The accountants might have something to say about that.
For monthly subs might no make sense yet but for the 6 or 12 months not bad idea to start with.
But then you’re just prepaying for X months of service, which is actually not super desirable from a balance sheet perspective.
To be clear, I actually think this is a net positive for the world and subscription products (and the valuations given to them). But the finance team at a SaaS company aren’t going to like it.
Sounds like such a finance team should be fired.
Once upon a time there was this concept of paying your bills instead of letting everyone debit your bank account automatically.
Send a monthly lightning invoice to the customer, problem solved.
I agree it’s a better model for the users. But the accountants don’t view it that way. I doubt you can call something a subscription without automatic billing. This impacts the MRR figures. SaaS company valuations are typically a function of MRR.
Have you tried Qobuz? Hi-Res Audio, nicely curated playlists and the app works like a charm
Qobuz is good so long as you aren't into niche artists, plus never dealing with MQA made it easier to pick over Tidal until recently.
nostr:npub17rlc0emedw5xljztfqrmykjaacsx6ujvdas64zznjadrnhhwlavq4jjtgg and I can attest to that, especially since I got him onto Qobuz just from word of mouth.
Yes. I like qobuz
Excellent change.
Sry what's MQA?
Good call
Finally! Hope Flacs are not just unrolls of MQAs like they used to be? Guys will test.
Copy needs an update then. It's still referencing MQA

Thank you!
Interesting. As a Tidal subscriber, this is news.
Great. Did switch to tidal couple years ago.
Still can't stream downloaded content and insist to check network.
I know it's not that complicated :/
