In Russia and in the ex-USSR they take off their shoes when entering the house.

Canada is correct to my knowledge, but I don’t follow rules around my own home anyways 🤣

Ninguém deve pisar em casa com calçados vindos da rua, com toda aquela imundice sendo trazida para dentro.

Alot of American houses, especially in the south are built on slabs, meaning shoes won't damage the flooring if one has put tile or just a cement finish.

In Canada, floors are wood and it snows outside. Keepung shoes will damage the floors.

No one is wrong, it's just a question of context.

Speaking as a Canadian, it’s not a matter of damage to floors, it’s a matter of hygiene! I don’t want outdoor shoes tracking who-knows-what in my house.

my home is shoes off. in the 48 states

US, no shoes in the house please. What do most of you do if you’re wearing sandals and no socks? Bare feet?! I find is strange how some people react to bare feet.

🇨🇦

Niether.

Never ask guests to take off their shoes.

I feel like this is primarily a climate thing. If half a year you’re walking around in heavy boots covered in snow or mud, taking them off while inside is just common sense. And then you just keep doing that the rest of the year.

And why are some people so self conscious about having to take shoes off. Do they have dirty socks and their feet stink or something?

Depends on flooring and what the owners are wearing. But definitely no shoes upstairs please, for those with houses. Standards

When it comes to regional culture nothing is incorrect. It depends on local conditions. Are we trying to cause trouble?

Wrong

Im with Canada here...

I bathe in my shoes
