GM nostr.

This will be used for venting. Over the past couple months I left gluten and lactose. Only eating them twice as “cheat meals”.

Been going super consistent to the gym everyday, running minimum a mile for the month of February.

Working every day. And boom. I get knocked out. Full on 3 days of chills, body complete wreck. Huge head aches. Watery eyes. (No cough or throat ache or boogies)

Got tested for influenza or Covid (just to put a name to whatever got me down) and negative on both.

But if it’s not a virus then wtf is going on? Is it my life style? I thought going “carnivore” in a sense made you immune/healthy? I’m so confused.

Your body is adapting to ketosis, if you press through it you'll feel amazing.

Really?

No diet can protect you against viruses / bacteria.

You can be healthier, which helps but diet does not provide immunity. It’s just not how the body works.

Cue ‘viruses are a hoax’ crowd biting my head off.

You need some of Nature’s candy 🫐🍓

lol I do eat that tho

Sometimes I just take it as a sign that I’m supposed to slow down for a second. Sending you some good thoughts ⚡️ hope you feel better!

Hello. I think the biggest benefit of those extreme diets like carnivore or keto are getting rid of industrial food that is killing us

But it is probably healthier to eat a diverse diet with meat, fish, nuts, but also fruits and vegetables, including some carbs like potatoes but not in excess

And some honey and yoghourt and wine and cheese (for wine if you can do it reasonably, me for instance it is hard!)

Only meat might suit some but probably not many

Good luck and GM and what you are doing is very inspiring!

I have been eating meat, fish, nuts , fruit. Just not processed food nor alcohol

Maybe add some yoghourt or skir for probiotics / gut health and some veggies not zero

Hope u get better soon!

🤞

Are you going to reduce your meals to protein and good fat?

Carnivore diet, I meant.

my love,

it sounds like you have overworked your nervous system 🫂

these things you’ve invited into your life are wonderful, but going carnivore isn’t the heal all magical pill. especially for women, our menstrual cycle forces us to have carbohydrates some weeks.

here’s some simple tips for you 🫶🏼

-sleep 5-6 cycles every night (7.5-9hrs)

-stay grounded AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN (get indoor grounding supplies if you can’t be barefoot outside often)

-drink MINERALIZED water. not the bubbly kinds i mean put some quality sea salt in your clean filtered water.

-place intention on everything you invite into YOU. whether it’s food, movement, or water. this simple act of gratitude and awareness will help illuminate what truly serves you and what doesn’t.

-use organic castor oil on your belly at night. and under your eyes, on your forehead, any&everywhere! it will help sooth your nervous system while you rest.

i hope this helps. 🙏🏼🌞🌀

What you’re experiencing is called keto flu. Generally it lasts about a week and a half. You should take some magnesium, salt and enough good fat. Chicken broth could also be helpful.

Ah and GM Isa☕️☀️🙂

After a couple months?

It’s still possible if the salt, electrolytes and good fat are too low. At least 90% of headaches are caused by sodium deficiency. On a daily basis, our good fat intake should be around 12 grams.

What’s the keto flu?

Keto flu refers to a set of symptoms some people experience when they first start a ketogenic (keto) diet, which is high in fats and very low in carbohydrates. It’s not an actual flu caused by a virus, but rather a temporary reaction as your body adjusts to using fat for fuel instead of carbs (a state called ketosis). Here’s a rundown:

### Common Symptoms

- Fatigue

- Headache

- Nausea

- Dizziness

- Irritability

- Brain fog

- Muscle cramps

- Trouble sleeping

### Why It Happens

When you drastically cut carbs, your body depletes its glycogen stores (stored carbs in the liver and muscles), which also releases water—hence the initial weight loss people often notice. This shift can mess with electrolyte balance (sodium, potassium, magnesium), and your brain, used to running on glucose, takes time to adapt to ketones. Insulin levels drop too, which can amplify the electrolyte loss through urine.

### How Long It Lasts

Typically, it kicks in within a day or two of starting the diet and lasts anywhere from a few days to a week or two. Some breeze through it, others feel it harder—it depends on your starting point, hydration, and how strict you go.

### How to Deal With It

1. **Hydrate**: Drink more water than usual—aim for at least 2-3 liters a day.

2. **Electrolytes**: Up your sodium (think broth or salted food), potassium (avocado, spinach), and magnesium (nuts or a supplement).

3. **Ease In**: Don’t go from 200g of carbs to 20g overnight—taper down over a few days if you’re prone to feeling rough.

4. **Fat Up**: Eating enough fat (like coconut oil or butter) can help your body switch fuels faster.

5. **Rest**: Sleep and take it easy while your body adjusts.

It’s usually a short-term thing, and most people feel better once they’re “fat-adapted.” If it drags on beyond a couple of weeks or gets severe, it might be worth checking with a doctor—could be something else or a sign the diet’s not jiving with you.

The same thing happened to me a year ago! Super balanced life I ran every day and at a certain point I got dizzy and dizzy. I couldn't stand anymore... visits on visits but nothing they never found anything. I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist but those shitty vaccines in my opinion have poisoned us 💉🦠

🤯

Holy shit you blew my mind. And the healthier you are the more the want you sick so you depend on them 😳

So what are we screwed for life lol?

I can think of a few possibilities. 1. People just get knocked down by a bad bug (many podsibilities not named flu or covid). 2. Seasonal allergies can come on severe but that’s not likely to show up out of the blue (particularly unlikely for someone not eating a bunch of processed garbage food) 3. You might have pushed it too hard with exercise, sleep matters, other life stressors matter. Some wearables index recovery and let you know if it’s time for a day off or if sleep is inadequate. I wore an Oura ring and it was helpful for those things. 4. Your diet sounds healthy! Keep an open mind about what your body needs to fuel your workouts. For example, some people really do need more carbs than others.

Zinc supplementation is probably helpful, vitamin C is probably helpful for reducing the severity of whatever illness. Anecdotal and not medical advice - I take nicotinamide mononucleotide 500 mg daily because I found that I can’t get sick when taking it. Allergies are better, no viral illnesses.

lol this is the last platform on earth I would ask for medical advice

😂

It’s almost always stress-induced—whether you realize it or not. Obsessing over every little thing you eat or do is, in itself, a form of stress. Personally, I take a pretty laid-back approach to food and exercise. I don’t overthink it—I eat reasonably, check labels when it makes sense, go for walks, and just roll with life. And guess what? I’m healthy. Maybe it’s anecdotal, but I’m the only person I know who never gets sick, has a clean bill of health, and can still bike, play soccer, and snowboard like I did 20 years ago. Sometimes, the secret isn’t another health hack—it’s just not stressing about it.

Damn maybe you are right. I did like how no gluten and lactose made me feel

It rains sometimes, just keep pressing on. You are preparing now for the real battle of your 70s - getting old ain’t for pussies so you just keep getting after it. Getting back up is real workout. 🤘

just eat whatever you want. it’s impossible to chase the latest fad

as long as you’re active and feels good it’s ok

Lol

for real. and intermittent fasting. no food after 6pm

GM Isa, well I can tell you that carnivore didn't work for me. Tried for like 12-16 weeks. Digestion problems, indigestion, burbing, heartburn, constipation. Dont know what went wrong there. Before that I was mainly keto. Everything was fine on keto. Nowdays I eat a lot of carbs, potatoes, vegetables, honey etc. Digestion has improved a lot.

Maybe too much red meat?

Might be, also I couldn't find a electrolyte balance. I worked out alot and used sauna. Despite electrolyte supplementing and generous salting of foods didn't sort it out. Maybe digestion problems were caused by this. You don't hold onto electrolytes on carnivore diet.

Balance nutrition, workout and rest. It seems you may have neglected the latter, and you choked your engine.

Take it easy. Do not overpush yourself. Life is very long.

You’re “getting well” as we say. Your body is going through a purge. You’ve. Cleaning out and moving lots of old stuck crap in your system and now the body needs to shed it out. You’re all good. It’s possible to adopt a regimen of purging on purpose every so often to keep things moving so the body doesn’t have to always take over in abrupt ways.

But killer head aches?!?? It’s been 5 days

Aye. I hear you, that sounds challenging. Hows you're electrolyte balance? Make sure plenty of those one hand.

Access to a temazcal? sometimes a good sweat helps move things.

And IMO there is always an invitation in our lived experience that's calling us forth into more balance and alignment. Only you are able to meditate on what that is. I'll check up ion homepathic remedies and get back to you also 😄
