Think I’m going to try my hand at making some mostly plain beef jerky. Think it would be fun to make it rather thin so it’s almost like eating a chip 😂

I went out and bought a roast, sliced it into 1/4” slices, the roasts grain was sadly on the thinner side rather that the length (wasn’t paying attention/first time trying this) so it’s probably going to fall apart a bit… lightly salted all the bits and then loaded them into the dehydrator. Will be interesting to see how it turns out and if it’ll finish in 8 hours or if it’ll take 12… I wanted to go thinner but with the grain issue I decided to go with the 1/4”. Next time I’ll pay attention to the grain of whatever I buy and make thin long strips.

Just three and a half hours left till I shut off the dehydrator and let them rest for four hours. 😮‍💨 I wanna try them already 😅

🤤

Turned out nice and crispy just like I hoped for :) this was easier than I thought it would be 😊

Need the deets

I tried to document the processes in text above my reply, but happy to answer anything that missed :) lmk

The problem with making a gallon bag of jerky is now I want to eat it all.
