Yep. When I told people I’m done with Twitter, half asked why I’m going to a broken Twitter alternative and others why I care about decentralization. That entire angle has been infected with web 3 and nobody wants to touch it now.

It preceded web3.js boys imo

Almost no one is getting shadowbanned or banned.

People know what fb is doing to their data and attention.

They still flock to it.

Nostr is just BETTER than these platforms.

The censorship resistance is a nice-to-have for most people (and for many a problem to disregard)

“Censorship-resistant” to some sounds like “Uncensored”, which has a totally different meaning…

Agree, but no one knows what network effects are either.

People are going to come for the features, and that they are unique features they can’t find elsewhere.

Zaps is one such reason. A single key to a whole ecosystem of useful micro apps is another. Instant global translation might be yet another.

As for developers, the fact it’s entirely open, permissionless, and fast-to-start wins all.

I’m actually here for the tech

Early adopters usually are

To me, it’s about decoupling UX from ID and content. It’s easy for anyone to take their ID to another client and see all their content preserved. That content is hosted on relays that are themselves interchangeable.

Centralized systems, which rely on corralling users into their walled gardens, simply can’t compete.

I think most people have a hard time believing that ethics and morality can align with profitability, but they certainly do because what’s ethical and moral can be defined as that which works best for a collective of individuals.

I think?

That’s the way, mainstream people don’t care censorship or network effect! 💪🏼

One truly killer feature will be to provide an alternative for video (YT) creators that escapes the demonetization traps they live with now.

I was listening to Mr beast and he said YouTube creators get paid pretty well. Not sure how true if he’s biased. It would make sense for YouTube to pay them well to keep everyone happy. Not sure if that’s as big of a problem as some may think 🤷‍♂️

The decentralised natur of Nostr makes is difficult to add cross-group network effects (Advertisers;Thank god they stay away). Nostr is a pure within-group social network currently, hence the attraction for like minded bitcoiners

Come for the novelty, stay for the utility

Disagree. People who have been censored care, which is half the political spectrum on Twitter.
