I had to get my Missouri license and registration for my truck today.

I'm not a fan at all of Missouri's draconian personal property tax laws.

If the State can seize my property If I don't pay continual taxes on it, then it's not really my property now is it?

My enacting such an onerous tax policy, Missouri has effectively abolished the right to own private property.

Ok, enough ranting. Now it's time to focus on making a pig pen and shelter.

I plan on putting my pigs in my pond that doesn't hold water. Hopefully they'll fix that for me.

No, it's not; I completely agree.

Cant' wait to see how using the pigs to fix the pond works out!

Agreed.

Good luck with the pigs.

I would love to see more of an organized effort to get property taxes abolished. The benefits of doing so would go both directions (at least for first movers). Imagine the influx of people who would want to snatch up legitimately ownable property. Then it is likely that market competition would kick in — if just one county eliminated property taxes and saw the benefits, other towns and counties would likely want in on it too.

I agree.

There a group here in Missouri that lobbies for freedom related stuff.

I should bring this up to them

Do it!

My understanding is that the modern form of taxing property has its origins in European feudalism. This presents one great narrative angle by which to sell the idea: no state or federal government ought be a feudal lord over its citizens. Especially in light of all the other taxes we now pay.

It seems to me that it is repugnant to the constitution as well as human nature. Obviously the politicians don't feel the same way

Yes that is one thing that really sticks in my craw. I have been thinking about techniques to reduce personal property taxes.. I cannot even believe people allowed these to be ever be brought about

Well the only legal way that I can see to reduce property taxes is to not own property, which in my opinion goes against human nature and eventually leads to slavery.

MO property tax law is such that you only report what you own on January 1st. So by that logic I could sell everything I have on December 31st and buy it all back on January 2nd

Unfortunately they would lead to a bunch of sales taxes and registration fees and would probably cost more not to mention being a pain.

My solution is to be as self sufficient as I possibly can, earn as much fiat as possible, so when tax day comes it'll hurt less.

That may help it seal but they will for sure make huge holes that you’ll need a big tractor to bush hog and maintain it if it doesn’t seal. Just something to think about
