The relay network is just our flimsy V1. Once people get used to sign stuff with private keys in self custody, the transfer of the data can happen in hundreds of different ways. The most revolutionary part of Nostr is to get people signing. Everything else will fall into place in time.

Ah, relays...the multiple points of failure

A necessary evil...

For now

This is heavy.

WebRTC side channels 😍

People think WebSockets are impressive, imagine when we get ubiquitous WebRTC.

Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by (hundreds of other ways)

this version of the DeLorean runs on garbage ser

Just like your posts 😂

should prob be using blastr huh.. 🧨😎

what is an example of not-relay? this sounds cool in theory but I'm skeptical of any technical solution that doesn't at least have a proof of concept

We already send events via push notifications, which is like a relay, but not really. P2P transfere are also coming. Lots of testing happening these days.

How can I get on the dev team? I can at least try stuff, my coding skills are limited.

Thats a very good insight! Thank you. I'll carry it.

massive centralized server

100%! Not only getting used to signing, but expecting signed content too. If you can't show proof of origin (as in a signed note from the enemy politician), there's no reason to believe the lie.

Nostr is not just anti-memory-hole tech; it's also anti-ministry-of-"truth" tech. You can't "revise" the thing the other person said. Plus, we can sign much more than notes, but any blob, like audio/video files.

No more "I am [name of politician], and I approve this message, but a code that comes with meta data that signs the critical content, and your media player looks for the signature and notifies you of the signature status. Maybe this can be part of the codecs themselves!
