You are free to disable the filter on the left menu. By default everyone that you don't follow and that posts 5+ times the exact same message gets labeled as a spammer. When they delete, they come back.
I don't use amethyst. I have no idea whether I am blocked or what I might have posted that would have gotten me blocked if that's the case. Anyone who gets caught just ends up in a shadowbanned bubble. That's the situation for lots of people outside your ecosystem. At least on xitter you can use tools to see if you're shadowbanned.
Each user chooses to see what they want to see. Every client has a different way to show the feed, with different options and protections for users. Some are optional, some are not. Ours is optional. It's their choice, not yours to make.
Also, our mute user function is private, instead of public as other clients do. No one knows which users are being muted by others. And that's a good thing.
Enabled by default and users trust that you have it set up in such a way as to not catch legitimate users (if they're even aware of it). I have no problem with users making an individual choice to mute, but that's not what's happening when legitimate users get caught in a spam filter, is it?
Correct. They trust us to get rid of everything they don't like (which is mostly random dick pics, shitcoins and DM phishing). And the filter works great. That's why we keep it. If it wasn't working, then it would make sense to remove. But it is highly effective.
Okay, Yes. I don't want porn popping up in my feed because I don't want to hide in a corner to use nostr. Makes sense. I want to be able to show other people my feed without fightclub Tyler Durden type subliminals flashing by making children cry. I can manually block those but I don't want to see it to begin with.
So maybe I am ignorant of the reality devs are struggling with.

Btw, you are not blocked. Only people that spam their followers over and over again (5 times of the exact same long post). It's a simple filter that is extremely effective to hide all the real spam, specially on public chat rooms available on Amethyst.
I didn't think I was, because I know a few people who are on amethyst who were responding to my posts (though I think they also follow me). But this is more the principle, that *if* I were it should be possible for me to know this without asking you.

ReplyGuy was incredibly consistent in its behavior, and thus incredibly easy to detect and block with near absolute accuracy.
The only thing that bothers me is I have been preaching censorship resistance to everyone, online and in real life.
Now I feel like a dumb ass. I see you have controversial and offensive content that you are posting unironically. It is possible that you were blocked for this reason because I had to manually block Ethereum finance adverts that have been spamming me and other users for days.
If I discover that nostr clients are arbitrarily and on a whim silencing people my PTSD is going to kick in and I will become the most toxic piece of shit the devs have ever seen.
I will mock them and their clients so incessantly with the intent to have them all block me to the point where nostr becomes unusable for me, then I will go back to legacy social media out of spite just to scoff at nostr dev's for their inability to stomach absolute freedom in all it's forms. I recently onboarded my dad to nostr and am mocking legacy SM in my telegram and discord groups, I feel stupid and betrayed.
I am here for freedom and freedom undeniably.
