I don't understand, if I'm on a free plan it's suspicious activity, but if I'm on a paid one it's not. Sounds like double standards to me.
I am all for V4V but saying you are a privacy/Freedom company/non for profit then banning someone for not having a paid plan is ridiculous.
If you don't want me using the VPN, disable it or limit the fee version, don't ban me cause I'm not a paid member.
On a different note I do agree with Fishcake that this 100s of relay things is not needed and a waste in Amethyst.

About Proton:
It's not double standards—it's infrastructure reality.
Proton's free tier gets massively abused by scammers and spammers who create bulk accounts with stolen credit cards to send spam and phishing emails.
Free servers aren't as fast as Plus servers "simply because of how many people use them" - they're shared infrastructure with higher abuse ratios.
Their anti-abuse system "automatically identifies accounts that are abusive and disables them... as we need to block them quickly before spammers can use them to harass or scam others."
If you want to avoid such issues and support Proton in providing high-quality free services, they literally recommend "upgrading to a paid account."
It's not about banning you for being free—it's about algorithmic detection systems that have to be more aggressive on free infrastructure because that's where 99% of the abuse happens.
I've had a free account for years. Maybe I should start paying for services I use & value. 🙅
We are looking for an investor who can loan our holding company 237,000 US dollars.
With this money, we will open a farm in Baku, Azerbaijan to produce animal-based food.
We will also make our own animal feed, so our products will be healthier, better quality, and cheaper.
Because we sell quality products for less and have strong advertising, we will sell more worldwide and make big profits.
Why Azerbaijan? Because animal farming makes a lot of money there, but few people do it. That’s why we will earn more by starting in Azerbaijan.
Additionally, by producing our own animal feed, we will be able to sell healthier, higher quality animal products at a lower price.
Since we can sell quality products cheaply and thanks to our strong advertising network, we will be able to sell more internationally and make huge profits.
The reason for establishing the business in Azerbaijan is that animal husbandry is a very profitable business in Azerbaijan, but since there are very few people doing animal husbandry, establishing the farm in Azerbaijan will provide us with more income.
Your profit:
You will lend 237,000 US dollars to our holding company and when 22.03.2026 comes, you will receive your money back as 953,000 US dollars.
Your earnings will be great. When 22.03.2026 comes, you will get your money back as 953.00 US dollars.

I've had a paid proton account for a few years now.
And I'm here.
Oh well 🤷😂
Have you been suspended or banned because of using Nostr or Amethyst with a paid Proton account?
No, right? That's the point I'm making. The context is in the quote post. :)
I call bullshit, I am using proton the entire time instead of tor and the amount of data isnt gonna be that big.
