Could we create a way to post using temporary Nostr keys, derived from the main key, so that:

- The main key stays "private".

- But all people in my web of trust can still tell the post came from someone they follow/trust.

-Nobody can know which account it exactly is.

I would see it like a guest pass that proves you're in the group, but doesn't show which member you are.

Optional rules like "only visible if someone follows 21+ accounts with overlap" could make it harder for bots to abuse/dox.

Use cases:

- Ask my web of trust about BTC rentals in city XYZ without telling whole world my travel plans

- Find people that maybe live close by and are interested to buy/sell BTC for cash.

- Find out if people from your web of trust maybe live in your are so you can connect irl.

Is it possible to build something like this? Maybe nostr:npub1s0veng2gvfwr62acrxhnqexq76sj6ldg3a5t935jy8e6w3shr5vsnwrmq5 knows?

I hope the main idea is clear - if not, please comment.

I definitely agree. It would help keep peeps more private but still connected. Would be a lot of work though and we would have to find a way to combat possible spam attacks with the feature.

Take a look at an experiment I vibed which uses zero knowledge proofs to assert the relationship and deliver on nostr's promise of portable reputation.

I personally think WoT is antithetical to bootstrapping disposable npubs without something like this.

USE-CASES.md has a few ideas about how it might be used.

You should be able to have your work or church or sangha ID seperate to your activist ID until one day (at your absolute discretion) you want to prove the relationship.

we did some zap tests on this note… your profile only specifies a nip05 nostr address, but not a lightning address, so we tried to zap your nip05 address.... we made six attempts to⚡zap this note, at wuji@wuji.foo, over a period of 1 minute. in each case, we found that your lightning address service or server did not respond correctly. if you wanted to fix this... you could try getting a free rizful lightning address -- https://rizful.com ... if u get it set up, pls reply here so we can do this ⚡zap test again.

Exactly, many use cases. All the stuff you mentioned + infinity. Would be a great tool for P2P exchanges within your digital web of trust while staying anon at the same time etc. Might also solve the "issue" some people here see that everyone only talks about Bitcoin 😄

Yep, there are billion dollar web2 SaaS b2b products that could be rewritten to run nicely on nostr and it's identity / auth. Huge potential but its all very b2c here at the moment and getting business to change habits is an unnatural act.

Looks like we'll simply have to make these businesses then obsolete ✌️

Wow, sounds amazing. More or less exactly what I was envisioning. This kind of stuff needs to take of. Would increase the real world usability of #Nostr so much imo. Please check it out nostr:npub1s0veng2gvfwr62acrxhnqexq76sj6ldg3a5t935jy8e6w3shr5vsnwrmq5

Thanks for the feedback that is encouraging.

I'd think something like this might be useful to make nos2x type signers dynamically switchable. Same with Amber. Also to be really powerful NWC switching paired with the npub.

(Switching npub/wallet in the social clients is ok in the short run but wrong long term for the protocol to be adopted in other applications.)

Regarding pseudonyms I also really like the point nostr:npub18dlusgmprudw46nracaldxe9hz4pdmrws8g6lsusy6qglcv5x48s0lh8x3 makes in https://untraceabledigitaldissident.com/nyms-personas-and-digital-identity/

"Have fun but don’t go crazy, know that on a long enough timeline this persona will be linked back to you. The more connections and data that you put out there the easier this will be."

A good switching tool would help firewall against one's own errors signing with the wrong key.

This is a similar problem that Monero was trying to solve

It’s called ring signatures
