Should start reading novels more, feels like I’ve only taken the non-fiction route
A good novel is better than non fiction in my opinion. Non fiction lacks storytelling and fiction can still have a lot to learn from.
Let me know if you’d like nonfiction recommendations with excellent storytelling. It exists!

The Library Book by Susan Orlean is the first book that springs to mind. I’m pretty sure the author could write a history of paint drying on a wall and somehow enrapture an audience.
This reads like a novel 
I have other nonfiction book recommendations that are really good if you’re at all interested in the subject matter. These are just good storytelling.
