I am a champion of sovereign energy. The best way for me to produce my own energy is solar hands down.
Go on with your save the world shit but you sound like a communist when you say we should switch to nuclear energy. Who the fuck do you think will own the nuclear power plants? At least with solar the average property owner can produce their own electricity and be energy independent.
We should all stop relying on governments and corporations for our power.

I installed solar for this very reason. We've had three hurricanes and our house never lost power, two power wall back ups. If shit hits the fan I will ahve refrigeration.

We have rolling blackouts from time to time and when our neighborhood loses power we are one of the only houses that stays lit!

Yes, I did imagine getting that text or waking up one day to find out that the grid is down for unspecified reasons. Next plan is to up the amperage on my house, install sauna, and install a LNG generator hooked right into my gas pipe for extra backup along with the outdoor kitchen. As an italian, the idea that I'm not going to cook good food during ragnarok is not palatable.
You cant run a modern economy on solar and wind.

solar doesn't work very well in the north.. only in the summertime. so we are kinda fuckt without hydro, fuel, or nuclear. nuclear would be nice because in theory it will be cheaper and more of it.
if i lived in the south i 100% would be stacking that solar, but here it's only good for boat on the long summer days and when i dont need heating.
Hydroelectric is bad ass if I had a stream or river flowing through my property I would definitely tap that shit first.
If I was up north I would probably have propane storage tanks too
