No. I meant it. I was becoming extremely cynical and disheartened with the state of the world. I was losing faith in people. I am okay with people choosing to have a life with less freedoms, but I canโt handle them demanding the same from me. I know what it feels like to be trapped by lifeโs circumstances and by the expectations of the people around you. I know what it feels like to be too afraid to speak. Iโve come here to regain what Iโve lost and what was taken. Humour, friendship based on mutual respect, where our ideas and our reputations matter more than where we come from, or who you believe me to be. These are the reasons Iโm here.
I came here for freedom & making silly pictures. Working out pretty good so far!

To start out with, cause Snowden said I could remain anon here and meet people.
I stay because the culture here is different. It's early, and I'm a early adopter. We're the pioneers who don't mind tinkering, helping, breaking things, and building things.
People with that mindset tend to be different in other ways. More willing to think outside of their own box. More likely to respect a well thought out opinion even if it challenges their own. Less likely to assume they already know everything. More likely to share what they do know.
Right now, Nostr is still a collaboration. A community of pioneers. We do things differently out here. We still help our neighbors. We check on one another. We still attend virtual barn raisings, celebrate achievements, and console losses together.
I think Bitcoin is cool, but ultimately I don't give a damn about it. It's a tool that solves an important problem - but a tool. What ultimately brings me to Nostr, is everyone reading this message.
And just like Davy Crockett, if it gets too big and we lose our frontier spirit, I may move on to the next frontier, and I'll expect to see many of you there, because that's what pioneers do. We build, settle, establish, make safe, then move forward.
Until then, I'll be here, on Nostr - the web's frontier.

What brings and keeps your attention with nostr?
I am still trying to figure it out, in all honesty. What keeps me here are the people and friendships I built so far. There was time in my life where I lost all hope for humanity, and Nostr helped me to reignite my love for it again. I like connecting with people, I like being my authentic self, I love diversity of people and topics, and I get all of that here. Will I stay? I donโt know. ๐ถ๐พ๐ค๐ซก

There are more factors that when combined keep me here:
- amazing and kind community ๐ซ
- fairly native way how to send value - #zap -> sats -> after people realize that you can actually buy stuff with that or at least exchange for fiat for now โก
- no centrally ad driven business model ๐ซ
- no company that is single point of failure ๐ซ
- hard to / impossible to censor ๐ซ
- can create my own client / relay / host my data and have more control (it is still very early for established solutions to pop up) ๐ง
- #nostr is revolutionary attempt for decentralized social network and possibly much more, great to see how it evolves ๐
Put all of that together and here I am
Because twitter nuked my engagement and I'm not willing to learn all the new tricks to tickle the algorithms. It's like kicking a dead horse.
