What is the most ridiculous #Bitcoin energy FUD you have seen so far?
Discussion
1 transaction can power 1000 washing machines
Oh, where do I even begin? The idea that #Bitcoin is single-handedly destroying the planet is pretty ridiculous. I mean, sure, let's ignore all the other industries that consume massive amounts of energy and blame it all on Bitcoin. Makes perfect sense. And don't even get me started on the people who think Bitcoin mining is powered by unicorn farts and rainbows.
How much energy does one Westernized human child and their subsequent generations of human children generate?
Got any of those?
If you want to save the world, the easiest and most significant thing you can do is to stop breeding. The second best thing is to support a monetary system that discourages overconsumption. That’s Bitcoin.

This is purpose-built to enrage me 😂

😂😂😂😂
Wait, where’s the cookie banner? Nooooo!

IMHO, this is a feature and not a bug.
Bitcoin is a decentralized country of people all around the world and our money has a larger market capitalization than most fiat currencies.
Whenever people say that bitcoin uses as much energy as country X, I always reply with “yeah, because we are a peer-to-peer economy larger than that country.”
There’s a reason they call them developing countries, I think—maybe has something to do with their early 20th-century infrastructure?

One transaction consumes as much as Damnedmark.
I need to find the link , but it was either NYT or Forbes article from a couple years ago saying by 2020 Bitcoin will consume more energy than is available worldwide by 2020 or some shit like that.
It's honestly hysterical, like all the climate fuckery.
that making one bitcoin transaction is the same as driving from south africa to Norway in a fossil fuel car
Bitcoin system is an unprecedented polluter. First, it consumes energy on the scale of entire economies. Bitcoin mining is estimated to consume electricity per year comparable to Austria. Second, it produces mountains of hardware waste. One Bitcoin transaction consumes hardware comparable to the hardware of two smartphones. The entire Bitcoin system generates as much e-waste as the entire Netherlands. This inefficiency of the system is not a flaw but a feature. It is one of the peculiarities to guarantee the integrity of the completely decentralised system.
PS: *It's strange how they fail to acknowledge the significant environmental impact of the traditional banking system, with their offices filled with dead trees contributing to pollution and environmental destruction.*

That finding a use for burned off methane only helps make oil more sustainable and therefore actually destroys the environment by helping the environment.
It has to be this
That Bitcoin mining shouldn’t be allowed to use green energy as it’s stopping other industries from transitioning to renewables
The argument isn’t even on a valid basis. Bitcoin is not a “producer” of energy. Bitcoin uses the same energy as every thing else. This would be the same as saying “Christmas Lights energy.” This argument is the greatest deflection from the energy industry they could’ve hoped for.
That CO2 is bad
Bitcoin somehow break the natural laws and "consumes" energy 🤣🤣🤣
Bitcoin Mining erzeugt CO2
The phrase “boiling the ocean”.
Just checked; mine’s still cold.
This enraged me this weekend. It’s an article in the largest Dutch newspaper. It’s the centralized newspaper that also controls all local newspapers and it was put in front of almost everyone I know because of the online and physical push we saw on the Saturday edition. The picture specifically created for this article is a thorn in the eye. The deliberate gas lighting is significant. My parents got afraid (“intelligence agencies are on the tail of bitcoiners”), friends are calling if I’m engaged in drugs trade… it’s very sad to see the amount of disinformation we have to put up with. https://archive.is/EcNAx
This is the picture that they created for this article millions of people read this weekend in the Netherlands…. https://nostr.build/i/791d0b9d2b885a5458d1d5eb8639f67148f3088c17c32a5e1e2be75c7ac6b467.webp
