a lovely ordinal

I just cleared out two old custodial wallets and was left with 1 unspendable sat in each. I guess that means I have two ordinals!

I hate this about bluewallet so munch

No, don’t you get it? They’re NFTs! 🤣

…but their iOS widget is 🤌

It’s the only new thing they’ve built in years.

Hey now, to be clear i LOVE bluewallet. Just emptyinng out a LN wallet is tough. I assume it’s bc routing fees are harder to account for than on-chain fees

For on-chain they have a “max” button which is 🤌🤌

Phoenix be like

Oh, I completely agree. I use BlueWallet tied to ln.tips.

Seriously, though… their iOS widget… 🤌

I have the same one 🤝

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing

BlueWallet with LN.tips / Alby / Node is great. Too bad the UX is stuck in 2017.

Completely agree. WoS has become my primary, tbh. BlueWallet badly needs a makeover and some updated features. Lots more competition than there used to be.

WoS looks like it was designed using Microsoft Paint, but it works really well when their servers aren’t on fire. Still the best for onboarding new people.

There’s a WoS TestFlight that looks far better than the current App Store version. Still a lot I’d do differently as a designer, but but I don’t know how code apps, soooo…

Code ≠ design. Either hire some competent designers or open it up to the community to contribute. #[5]

I love their iOS widget. But their lightning experience is pretty meh. I feel like they’re not as involved in the community.

I give WoS credit for this though. Decent product. Decent interactions with community.

Completely agree. That said, muun has the smoothest interface and best UX. If only they offered lnurl addresses and nip-57 support.

They probably can’t with their existing architecture. Either they have to build another way to do it, or they’ll always be that app people just kinda remember.

If demand warrants it, it’ll happen. I’m not even sure what development at muun looks like. Could be a single college kid. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought those things were due to subatomic swaps as opposed to “actual lightning”

It’s because Muun isn’t a lightning wallet. It’s an on-chain wallet that just interacts with LN via submarine swaps. It’s actually a petty terrible experience if you start to use LN often.

At this point, they’re still a fantastic tool to move from lightning to on-chain.

That design team + WoS dev team, please!

Yeah I would only use Muun for LN <> on-chain swaps. It can get a little pricey at times though. It’s terrible for LN payments and receiving on LN though.

WoS is probably the best LN only experience right now but it’s totally custodial.

My current favorite LN wallet is Blixt Wallet, it’s a full LND node on your phone so it’s fully non-custodial and totally sovereign since you can open channels to whatever nodes you want. The only downside is you can’t currently receive LNURL-pay payments/use an LN address but the dev is currently working on a trust minimized solution for that.

Very good to know, thanks! I’m eager to see how the self custody options evolve. In the mean time, I’m happy with #[7] as a custodial solution and don’t keep more sats on it that cash I’d carry on me, which generally isn’t much.

Plus, as a small, local web designer, developed, and host, I have been thoroughly impressed with their speed of development. Not to mention the way they handled the downtime when they were getting hammered by everyone and their mother wanting to try NIP-57 zaps.

Muun is great for mixed LN/on-chain usage. If you use mostly LN then you need something else. Personally I like Phoenix. The good thing is that you don't need to marry any single option. Use as many wallets as you need. But recovery/backup becomes harder the more wallets you have.

It’s maybe fine for very light usage, but it’s terrible for privacy since Muun has your xpub (you can’t even view your own xpub with Muun) and there’s absolutely no form of coin control. All the submarine swaps over time will leave you with a mess of UTXO dust that will get expensive to move out of the wallet and it bloats the UTXO set as a whole.

On-chain bitcoin without a seed phrase. Lightning that can’t zap. What else could you ever ask for in a wallet? 🤣

Lol PV!

Muun is really good for people who don’t know what any of this means 😂😂😂

I’m tired of arguing with people about wallets. They can either take my recommendations or not. Choose whatever you want and good luck!

There's no absolute "best wallet". It all depends on your personal situation.

Regarding xpub: Muun is multisig so there is no traditional xpub. You can still get your keys to assemble a watch-only wallet if you want.

Regarding utxos: yes, that's right. It's good for very light usage, what was standard in the pre-Nostr era 🤣

Muun is a very good beginners non-custodial on-chain wallet. Also for lightning, no channels to open, no inbound/outbound capacity to think about a new-coiner would overwhelm.

Doesn't this happen with pretty much every custodial wallet? WoS needs about 10, I think. Alby needs 20 or 50 or so, I forget exactly, but I tested this out on a bunch of apps and I don't remember any where I could spend the whole balance.

I believe that’s right

I wonder if the companies running these wallets have considered a "burn this wallet and take my last sats" option, so that at least they can be recovered by somebody instead of sitting unused.

Better get a urologist to look at that. Doesn’t look ordinary to me. Get an inscription for something.

Send it to me and I will send you 2 back

Bro

Ok this is too much like the defi bots having convos in comments 🤣

🫡🤣

lol

Its True, "Ordinário" 😆😅😅🤣🫡

That's the best one I've seen

Ill buy it from you for 3 sats.
