Curiosity got the better of me! Couldnโt get either suggested brands but found this one instead. I have no idea if this is fake malt vinegar or not!
I have now tasted it and am underwhelmed at best. But at least I have tried it ๐

The whole idea of fish and chips was it was originally cheap working class food that's why it used to come wrapped in real newspaper. People generally use a load of salt then drown it in vinegar so it just comes through like non descript salty tangy flavour.
