Hearing a lot of people in Bitcoin describe journalists in the space as „doom pillers“ lately.

Its fine that there‘s things you‘d rather stay ignorant of and you prefer to stick to your pink little bubble in which everything in Bitcoin is made of unicorns and rainbows.

But the people writing these stories are doing a very thankless and unlucrative job at great personal risk and expense, because they believe that the stories they are telling can make the world a better place.

Stop trying to tear them down.

Thanks for doing what you are doing!

Theyre intellectually lazy, which is why theyre susceptible to parroting lazy propaganda

I would call that category a bitcoper instead of bitcoiner. Real bitcoiners care about the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it is.

And you're absolutely right on the relative thanklessness as opposed to appealing to the average mouthbreather by just posting "ROCKETSHIP, ALL ABOARD" every few hours.

Whitney Webb July, 2024

the recent conversation between Danny Knowles and Mark Goodwin (What Bitcoin Did podcast) brilliantly points out that the private manifestations of surveillance capitalism have roots in “public institutions” and academia, and are intimately intertwined, and much more opaque to the public

Foundation Pillers is how I see them.

Unless they are getting more than one paycheck. That's the premise when the rhythm and rhyme is a familiar psychological operation.

I'll be as vague as necessary because it's also a matter of selling helplessness which definitely benefits the state. People give up, get high, drunk, entertained and complacent.

What we are hearing is a lot of SBR bro cope.

Investigative journalism is one of the only ways to lift the veil on the threats that face Bitcoin. Only when people KNOW what and where a threat is can they rally to battle harden defences or change a course of action.

As the State becomes more powerful, the ability and the inclination for (many, not all) journalists to dig deeper weakens. As the quality of information disseminated weakens, the ability for Bitcoiners to take action weakens.

Bitching about how important information pertaining to security and privacy is communicated is one big fucking own goal of epic proportions. Attacking the fourth estate or not heeding their warnings is like backing up your private keys on paper and dropping it in public. Fucking stupid.

This is the problem with all generalizations (😉) - there are always some great journalists, great VCs, great frontend developers, great artists, great transgender people, great people of color, great jews, great fat people, great beautiful people...

Generalizations of people groups suck in general.

Show love to people that do great job, help them, highlight them, support them. Thank you nostr:npub1mznweuxrjm423au6gjtlaxmhmjthvv69ru72t335ugyxtygkv3as8q6mak for being one of the great!
