I am aware of lightning, I have nor explored it in depth yet since I don't have spare resources to utilize it currently.
I'm trying to avoid custodial solutions.

So you are shilling #monero without even knowing what LN is, lol

shill us your non-custodial LN stack
Two private LN nodes running on my phone device via ZEUS; with multiple decent sized—simple taproot—private channels; enough inbound and outbound liquidity for all my needs; UXTOs were coinjoined too; also using a bunch of custodial wallets for decoy. 🐱
Well, I'm glad that you're able to utilize Lightning Channels on Zeus, and I hope to do so as well someday but you have to realize that the average person in The United States don't even have an emergency savings fund of $500, so asking them to first put up 0.01 BTC to open a reasonable Lightning channel is a bit of a stretch ain't it?
I fully support, and back Zeus as a principled software, & I intend to use them when I am able to do so.
Can't tell if you are retarded or just AI gibberish, either way hfsp
I tried being nice but screw it, cry harder.
Monero will win!

SO MUCH WINNING!!!

All I can say is a lot of liquidity that's currently in Bitcoin will shift to Monero once people start reading more.
Monero will improve its anonymity sets, technology, and is capable of adopting Layer 2s, and Drive Chains, etc., realistically though anything that scales Monero further will presumably be implemented on Layer 1 however, the current tech scales due to dynamic block size, and fees get lowered while still maintaining blockchain security.
For by default usage, Monero is better, for advanced usage, Bitcoin is probably somewhat comparable to Monero's tech, lightning tps edges out over Monero on-chain, but that's at the tradeoff of increased complexity, or giving up control of channels.
shut the fuck up boy

not really

monero is based on same legacy tech. it doesnt improve tx throughput in any meaningful way.
btw monero is on average slower to do two transactions than bitcoin, because transacted coins are locked for 10 confirmations.
You have to account fee per minute.
Bitcoin is faster with higher fees but with average to low fees Monero is faster per transaction.
The confirmation lock is a security feature.
Monero fees are like 2 cents and much easy to use in a sovereign manner VS LN - that's why almost everyone on Nostr is zapping with custodians
FCMP will enable L2s on Monero, so everything else you are saying won't be true very soon. Those L2s will also be built on an encrypted blockchain so will be better for privacy than building one on a transparent base.
You can pay for a decent sized inbound channel from ZEUS’ LSP for as low as ~$7 of sats.
The idea that you need to put $1000 or even $100 worth in to get started is simply incorrect.
Hello, I didn't mean this as a criticism of Zeus to clarify, I absolutely stand by your guys goal, and mission.
However, isn't the ability to transact based of the channels capacity?
I am willing to look into it more if I can still can recieve sats in excess of the channel capacity since that was my primary concern that a low capacity channel makes it more difficult to transact.
There is no offense taken. Just want to make it clear for others who may pass by your comment.
Channel capacity does restriction channel size on Lightning. That said you can pay a small fee for ZEUS’ LSP to put up all of the capital in the channel so that you can get onboarded.
Self-custody is not as expensive as some are making it out to be. Especially in today’s fee environment.
If you have any guides, or videos for setup I would like to learn more, my original intent was to store up ~$500 to ~$1,000 to avoid complexities but if this isn't necessary then I would like to set it up asap!
I appreciate your response.
The most economical channels are through our 'purchase in advanced' service, which can be purchased in app by hitting the 'Purchase inbound channel' button above the channels list view, or on the web at https://lsps1.olympusln.com/ - you DO NOT need to use ZEUS as your wallet to purchase them, any full Lightning node will do.
We haven't seen anyone make a tutorial yet but we aim to make our own that also highlight channels lease renewal functionality, if no one else does, sometime late in Q1.
Basic flow is this:
1) Connect as a peer to the ZEUS LSP node (done automatically if you use the mobile wallet - connection URI available to copy or scan on the web app)
2) On the create order view set your channel capacity and lease duration
3) Pay the invoice provided
4) Wait for your channel to confirm on-chain
How is it on your battery? And why two nodes?
Private nodes don't need to be online 24/7. Zero battery drain.
The few. Respect.
I know what lightning is but I haven't personally used it because my two options are Custodial (defeats the purpose of Bitcoin), or Self-Hosted Lightning channels (is resource intensive, very technical, and prone to failure from what I have heard)
If you want to send me 0.01 BTC I would gladly use it to explore Self-Hosted Lightning.

99% of LN is already custodial, and it's just a matter of time before LN node ops start getting punished for not having money transfer license. Lightning is NOT 'be your own bank', it's thanks for maintaining the current system - high fees and all.
