What if you could only DM some people with a zap?

My dream would be fulfilled

OnlyZaps?

Love this concept, but wouldn’t it need to be client-specific?

First DM with a zap is nice. Stops spam, not every message.

That looks like that feature from LinkedIn Premium 😅 you pay so you can contact people outside of your network

Paying for every message is stupid. There are some apps out there that do DMs over keysend for example. It's a dumb idea.

I think that would be prerogative of the recipient, not the sender.

Dunno if this is a big deal. Might help large following people but not that special for average user.

Going out on a limb here in saying the women might appreciate this 😂

I second this notion

Pays to be a book! 😂 Most ppl here assume I’m a guy

That’s one sexy book!

💃🏻

Lolol

I’m thinking things

Adam Back had this as one of the use cases for hash cash… I think this feature will be inevitable for nostr… VIPs will need this to be able to exist on nostr…imho

a better world

Sounds like prostitution. Paying for access.

It just lets your message go through, you are still not entitled to the recipient responding.

Could be interesting.

The ability to set your private keys to such a setting wouod be fantastic, another mechanism to mitigate spam and scams.

Hmm...

#[1] what do you think of adding this profile setting and if set DMs from users you don’t follow don’t go through, only DMs that meet minimum zap amount.

A list could be used to set amounts for different people, even to zero.

💜

would love this

or with a nut!

You mean how the majority of the dating sites work with disproportionate men to women ratio.

Sorry, what’s the problem exactly?

That will be kind of expensive when 1sat=1usd

That might be an effective way to weed out (cheap) scammers and spam messages 🤔

I agree, it’s pretty much a personal energy shield and a way to say I am willing to entertain what others have to say directly to me at this price.

It will block cheap forms of bullying, harassment, spam, etc. but also limit unwanted soliciting, and turn advertising around, etc. Instead of paying Twitter or Facebook to show you an ad, advertisers will pay the users directly, completely disintermediation of centralized social media.

You still get to decide whether you read the notes or not.

Eloquently put, I love that! What if we take it a step further and set up a tiered pricing for advertisers? In other words, they would pay a basic fee to deliver a message, a standard fee to get the message read, and a premium fee to receive a reply from the customer. This way, there would be an incentive for the customer to respond and drive the economy 😆
