I have already asked this many times. Here it goes again.

#asknostr

Where is the best places to upload ~10 minute #YouTube type videos that are #nostr integrated?

I am nor sure I want to be stuck with a Nostr.build premium account.

I don't think Zap.Stream really fits what I want to do.

satellite.earth

Thats a new suggestion for me. Thanks. I'll check it out! ๐Ÿฆพ

I have nostr.build but kinda wish I had gone with satellite instead.

they have a sexy web client too

I didn't sign into Satellite.. They do video hosting as well? Is it cheaper or just better?

i think it is comparable feature-wise

Oh man. This does look nice. And you pay for What you use it seems.

This looks nice and it seems you pay for what you use only. denominated in usd interesting. Is that a good thing?

Looks just like another Nostr web app. What sets it apart for video uploads?

Cheaper, more, better.

why don't you want a nostr.build premium account?

Maybe I do. I have not pulled the trigger yet though. If I choose to go that route, then I am obligated to keep paying the fee to keep all the content up. Maybe the fact that you have to pay up front is what makes it good. And then just share straight to nostr I guess.. ๐Ÿคท

Do you use one?

I don't because I'm happy with just using their free services. I don't do videos (yet)

if your aim is to host more media, either you do it for free somewhere like YouTube and they do their fiat bs. or you pay for storage and access.

That does make a lot of sense. Nothing is free. I question sites like odysee who have a shitcoin attached. Nostr.build seems solid. And then you can share everywhere. I am leaning that way. Thanks for. The input.

you're very welcome. I think it's better to keep it simple. pay sats. get storage ๐Ÿ‘

you're going to need a premium account somewhere such as nostr.build or primal or you host the files yourself. hosting files, especially videos, costs money.

Is there any easy solution for self hosting that a less technical person can do?

point and click easy? no. you need a server that's accessible from the Internet. it's going to require several technical and manual steps.

quick and dirty:

1) you'd need a domain name, an SSL certificate, and router configuration to host at home on a machine you have at home. this could be your umbrel or start9 that i saw you mention, but it's going to need some manual configuration.

2) you'd need to buy a virtual private server (VPS) from a hosting provider and setup everything minus the router configuration.

Sounds like I should just go with nostr.build

If I have longer videos there, I can share them directly into something like amethyst still?

I think I am going to do it. I think my hesitation is that once I pay for storage I will feel more obligation to share content that has value. But it is part of what I want to do here. And free is never free.

absolutely. you can copy and paste the video link into any nostr app or share directly from nostr.build.

I think it is time. Means I will have to actually get busy on creating value with what I share. What a concept. Thanks Derek. ๐Ÿซ‚

I personally find nostr.build to be the most useful (and safe) option for CDN hosting. The features and functionality are top notch, they are super responsive and keep a backup the data.

Plus; the fast that they just increased storage options at no cost really sealed the deal for me. I now use it for all my content hosting! As a media creator of 16 years, itโ€™s by far the best user friendly solution Iโ€™ve ever found
