I know many people say AI tools are hype and still suck - and in many ways that’s true, but I can now do a thing in 3 days that would previously take me a year because I had no idea where to start.

That’s super powerful. And it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Things are getting very interesting.

I’ve used Grok to analyze my pregnancy complications and labs and it gave me game plans for the future and it’s better than any of my docs have done hahaha

Yeah the stuff you can investigate now is insane. It’s excellent at analyzing information across different sources and making connections that may have been more difficult to make before. I’m hooked on it myself but also concerned about long term influence.

Concerned as in people won't have jobs anymore or something more like a doomsday scenario where AI takes over the world?

Neither. Concerned that we won’t be able to make smart decisions based on sound knowledge or instinct because all knowledge will at some point be influenced by the same Ai you’d like to not influence your thinking. But ultimately the human factor that seeks to control.

I used it to analyze a property taking into account new projects in the area, security “which in my country is a complication” and asked for possible future scenarios! I was impressed! I asked to take into account unconfirmed rumors and facts!

Could you tell me a bit more about this? My wife is curious since we’re 38weeks preggo with our second one.

I would agree 🔥🫡

What do you use?

Ashamed to admit but I still ChatGPT for basic stuff. Claude for code. I do have self-hosted “open source” models running locally but they are slow and usually not very good. The tool I’m most impressed with so far is the Cline extension in VS Code. It’s dumb in many ways but if you know how it’s dumb, you can guide it to be smarter. Have yet to dig into Cursor.

0 shame necessary, i use chatGPT as a tutor to create practice exams and scenarios for my school. Not dying on the sovereignty/privacy hill for that.

For coding, I've felt incredibly overwhelmed by the amount of options + lack of good UI/UX in the tools I've tried using. I get an hour in and feel like I've gone nowhere, just end up getting frustrated and overwhelmed.

AI is the kick start I need for any project. I love it.

Meanwhile me, telling qwen2.5-coder to write my documentation at work so I can have a smoke.

The new "it's compiling" ^^
