How do you make something out of leather without first killing the animal to skin it?
"Leather" is the result of killing a living being, and selling it for your adornment.
Bread is the result of taking the wheat's babies and grinding them into flower, then infesting their ground bodies with yeast, the baking the result.
There are plenty of practical, utilitarian applications for leather and you know this. Framing leather strictly as a frivolity is a lame straw man.
There is already many ways to create vegan leather! From pineapple, apple, nopal cactus... And tehy make shoes, bags, etc. out of it! This is really cool!
On a more serious note - veganism is a religion which has nothing to do with animal wellbeing.
People are and should be free to believe in whatever they want, but when a zealot starts preaching to everyone else that they will go to hell because they believe differently it starts getting unpleasant.
