I seem to recall someone actually selling something. A watch, I believe. Tho I can't remember who. I think part of the problem is that getting to the marketplace isn't intuitive. I also believe posted items should appear in people's regular feeds from time to time. It's an "out of sight, out of mind" situation.

They do when you first publish a listing, so it falls on the seller to keep boosting

I think it makes sense to randomly insert marketplace events into users' feeds for as long as they remain active. I feel like that's something that should be done at the client level, as opposed to sellers continuously re-broadcasting. That method is also more courteous to the relays.

I could see that being opt in, but I don't think I would like that very much personally. Again, I don't buy much though.

I agree on the client side thank you for adding to the convo i didnt really think beyond my question

Collaboration is how you get the best ideas, and strategies for improvement!

Since the marketplace is an Amethyst-specific feature, it makes sense that promoting entries would be a client-level function. Almost like another layer of the Amethyst feeds. Such a system would reduce the necessary coding, and I believe make implementation easier. And the end result would be more eyes on active marketplace listings, and increased value for Amethyst. I think it's a good upgrade all around. And since it wouldn't require sellers to repeatedly re-broadcast their listing, it would also reduce bandwidth consumption, and strain on relay servers.
