Humans are the only mammal confused about what to eat.
What are the causes do you think?

Other humans.
Choice and abundance obviously.
Probably too much research.
Too many high tech ingredients.
If you can't explain to a five-year-old how to make it, it's probably not good for you.
Industrialization
Weāre fortunate enough to have a conscious brain that allows us to consider how another being may feel about being killed. Empathy is great for humanity. That said unfortunately that empathy creates a dilemma for some people that know the meat is nutritious but feel bad for the way an animal is treated in captivity before being slaughtered. Modern meat industry is abhorant. Go shake your ranchers hand by local grass fed beef!!
Schools. It starts with schools.
root cause is governments love affair with scientists.
Being able to cook/make stuff probably is a big cause of it.
I think that big-food, big-pharma, big-ag & big-medicine have been corrupted by quick & easy profits. They don't work for your health, they work for the fiat...
Every human is basically a puppet for an internal committee of parasites, bacteria, and fungus fighting for dominance . We think weāre making nutritional choices, but really, weāre just vessels negotiating between our own neuroparasites competing interests for survival .
You didnāt wanna eat undercooked meat all of a sudden , your taxplosmosis did . You didnāt crave that sugar , your candida was starving . Youāre not a night owl your Prevotella is manipulating your circadian rythm to have a bigger feeding window . Youāre not addicted to Hiking , youāre Borellia is manipulating your dopamine to linger in the woods so you transport those thicks around . You didnāt became a vegan disgusted by meat , your iron hungry bacteria lost the war to the fiber one in your gut
Thanks for coming to my weird ted talk lol š
Untrue, but for all mammals that are, the main causes are probably choice and knowledge, both certainly not widely considered bad factors in our modern environment.
Plenty of evidence to show that other mammals are often confused about what to eat: a prime example of this is Cetaceans, especially Orcas in captivity. Unsurprising as they are some of the cleverest animals!
The majority of our choices have ingredients that are poison.
So we have to choose carefully.
