I like to start fasts after 1 meal or 2 light meals. So I usually start somewhere in the 11-1 range. The final day of a prolonged fast plays tricks on me and I get very hungry so I donāt like it to be too long after morning until I break it. So this is what works best for me. Times are totally up to you.
I fast for 24 hours often, yes. I shoot for once a week. 48 hours i try for once a month. sometimes Iāll go a few weeks without fasting but I miss it, itās addictive. Iām still a newbie overall, i only started fasting a year ago.. to that point i had never even done a 24 hour fast and Iām older than youād think.
The mental clarity is unlike anything I get anywhere else. Especially after 24 hours. Itās special. Itās needed.
No, Iām not cranky, quite the opposite. Iām hungry, but peaceful. I still workout as I believe itās import jet to let your body know you arenāt dying, youāre purging. Youāre focused. Mind and body are connected. Let your body know why you are fasting. I tell my body to feast on impurities cause youāre getting nothing else. I think it listens.
Also, I swear by sparkling mineral water on prolonged fasts with Himalayan Sea Salt and a squeeze of lemon. It just feels right. Again, listening to my body but salted water tastes amazing on a prolonged fast. Iād NEVER drink it otherwise and I also donāt enjoy sparkling water AT ALL outside of fasting.
Iāll also have some black coffee.
Today I just made a treat, ššš. Shot of espresso, sparkling water, salt and lemon. It looks gourmet and tastes fantastic!! (Again, Iād never drink iced salted lemon coffee water if I wasnāt fasting)
