Kids shouldn't even have access to the Internet IMO
With adults glued to the internet and kids not allowed on because "I said so" is teaching authoritarianism. My possibly controversial opinion is that the household is where all the cucks learned to bow unquestioningly to government authority.

I think about it pretty often and it doesn't take me further. You are welcome to point out the flaws in logic though.
Children have their rights held in escrow by their parents because they’re not wise enough to consent or think about long term consequences. This is one of many areas where it’s easily arguable not to just let them consooom.
Your line of reasoning is similar to the ones people use in favor of transitioning kids just with a different ideological spin.
Thanks for the elaboration. In my experience with kids they listen to reason and have the capacity for self preservation and avoiding harm, physical and mental. They can understand at their simple level anything that needs to be impressed upon them, no reliance on an authority position is ever needed. I find that transmitting your values to them and giving them freedom to choose after that, does not disappoint.
Letting your kid go trans is not an authority or lack thereof question, it is a matter of transmitting a (sick) value system to them.
I agree peaceful and voluntary interactions are far more preferential but I think it’s unlikely a child will never want to do something self destructive that you’d want to intervene and prevent.

Free speech applies to adults. Adults don't need a nanny state to protect their fragile ears and eyes.
Kids are not simply pint sized adults and do need protection from stuff.

But I think you will have to teach them how to use the internet correctly and appropriately for their age. Or restrict their physical access to devices until a certain time.

What I meant was to keep out the pedos and nsfw stuff. Not even necessarily for the social but just stuff that kids like, while at the same time getting them used to decentralization instead of early Big Tech indoctrination. Agree about old fashioned socializing but I think "both" is a more likely future.

I'm not sure that's possible. #Children deserve security, beauty and wholesomeness. But look at what they allow in the public schools. Colleges, universities, military and government.
Look at how we allow the for-profit #healthcare industry to poison them with #vaccines #pills and #potions they don't need. Drugs that kill and injures them.
Seems to me that trying to create a child safe place on nostr would be like trying to create a child safe world. I've had ideas. Then realized the bad guys could easily get around it. Children belong safe at home with the people who love them, protect them, and nurture them..🤔
